Hi - Wondering if anyone has tried/knows how/successfully swapped a VG30DETT (Twin Turbo powerplant from 300ZX) into an S14?? How difficult is this? What costs involved? Any ideas about how much labor would be, if "professionally" done? Thanks,

-AJ

Have you ever seen the engine bay of a ZTT?? That engine is completely smashed in there. Putting that in an S-chassis would be hell. I know it requires modifications to the cross member and the firewall. Is there any reason the other engine choices out there don't work for you? Here's the list in order of difficulty:

KA24DE turbo
SR20DET
CA18DET (tougher for the S14 chassis due to wiring and stuff)
RB20DET
RB25DET
VG30ET
VG30DETT
RB26DET (single turbo conversion w/RB25DET tranny)

and then there's the infamous 2jzgte from a Supra. Or a 13B from an FC or FD. Or a V-8 out of an American steed (302 or MAYBE a 350).

I mean, really. Is there any reason you actually want to put the Z engine in there? It has its fair share of problems...and the twin turbo setup is so tough to modify. If you must have a V-6, get a new VQ35DE out of an Altima or something and figure out how to put that in there. And turbo that. That would probably be no more difficult.

You could get an SE-R engine in there. . . but by the time you're done modifying an FF engine to match a tranny for your rear wheel drive car, you could have already put 400hp to your wheels using the KA or rwd SR

NEW Sentra SE-R engine = QR25DE
I'd think it'd be pretty tough because it's a front wheel drive engine, but the 2.0 version is available in RWD (QR20DE) in the Nissan X-Trail (like the Xterra... only better, and optional SR20VET) But if you're going to get the 2.0 anyway, might as well get an SR.

I'd think the QR25DE would feel a lot like a KA24DE. . not a whole lot bigger, more powerful... But the Sentra (should be a bit lighter) isn't really a LOT quicker than a 240sx. . Not enough to justify the costs, IMO

The X-Trail is FWD with AWD as an option. It's a car-based mini SUV like a CR-V or Rav4... it just has the SR20VET as an option.

There's no RWD variant of the QR block because right now Nissan doesn't have any plans for any more small RWD cars.

It is hard enough to put a TT engine into a Z32 because of the space let alone into a S14. I would have to estimate that someone would charge around 2-3 g's just for labor! If you want to be unique go for a ca18det or rb20det.

But the just my .21 cents

if u want a crazt fast car get a TTZ. dont try to swap it. i had a Z project car. i sold it because it is extremely advanced. just changing the spark plugs takes an hour. the vg30dett is a very big motor. and a very expensive one also. espcially if the valves bend. it would probally cost u 3/4 the amount to get a TTZ just to do a swap.
