im installing my coilovers toady and everything was going good until i got to the front drivers side 17mm bolts i could get the bottom one off but the top one is rediculous ive used pb blaster 4 times on it and its still not moving. anyone know what to do? it has all ready claimed a 17mm socket and wrentch.

Impact, if that doesn't work chisel it off or grind it out with an angle grinder.

Fuck getting someone stronger. Why don't YOU(zx88) get smarter?

Go get a LONG(4 foot) "cheater bar". Use a STONG(not breakable) Wrench. The leverage should pop that thing right off.

If that doesn't work try heating the nut(try to keep heat away from the strut).

If that doesn't work, do as stated above...grinder, chisel, etc.

EDIT- i'm wrong, use 6pt

Use a breaker bar and 6-point socket. If not, apply heat, cut, or drill.

Interesting. Thanks for that link, i guess i learned something. For rusted/hard to use bolts i have ALWAYS gone with the 12pt. sockets. As a matter of fact i RARELY use my 6pt because i always thought the 12pts gave me a better "grap". Prob. all in my head! lol. Anyone else do this?

Guess i'll try a 6pt next time.

6 point is the way to go mainly becuase you have more surface area gripping the nut/bolt at any given time.

I've learened the hard way on that. 12pt socket will strip out a rusted bolt/ nut considerably easier than a 6 pt.

Again breaker bar is the way to go. I take a section of my jack handle and put it on wrench when I need the extra levereage.

i tried the "cheater bar" when i had this problem, tried heat, only thing that worked cutting the head off of the bolt and drilling it out. i have extra 17mm bolts from courtesy nissan if you need them.

i tried agian and it came undone without any problem thats weird. i wasnt even trying and it just loosend idk.

sometimes when i have trouble with rusted stubborn bolts i lie on my back, position the ratchet perpendicular to the ground, and then kick it with my feet.. legs are stronger than arms. and this usually helps bust those fucking nuts and bolts. this was before i had an impact hammer and other tools that i have now though but i still use it from time to time when tools are too far away. sometimes im too lazy to bust out impact, charge compressor, reel hose, change sockets, etc for 1 bolt. i need a hose reel because i just have an air house that i hate to roll back up by hand but those reels cost like $60.

meh, if it doesn't come off after about 10 mins of muscling I bust out the dremel and cut that shit off, then goto Home Depot and get another nut...saves time, had to do that with one of my motor mount nuts.
