Q45 Drivetrain Questions: RB vs. VQ vs. SR vs. VG
Well, I am debating on going VIP for my next track car and trying to think of a motorset to go with. It will be a time consuming as well as money pit so save me the opinions on those. The options are :
RB25DET SR20DET VG30DETT RB26DETT VQ Motor Discuss! Also any information on any one of these engines swapped into a Q would be awesome. *a |

how about a supercharged vk56 out of the titan? i think stillen, but im not sure, has a bolt on supercharger kit that i think is intercooled. youd have to figure out the tranny though. find out what tranny forsberg is using on the vk 350z vert. just a thought.

In my opinion, the only real compelling reason I'd have to put a V8 in a 240 is the way it sounds.
But I can't afford a IRL flat plane, nor do I think it would fit. so I don't care enough to investigate more. |

^^^^ Something about the sound of a race ready v10 makes me smile. If you buy the IRL motor we can make it fit. I'll work for free! You provide the welder and Cheetos
I think the VK56 for that car would be a great fit. Imagine that motor turbo charged. It has 379lb feet and 305hp. you could move the earth instead of driving on it running 1 bar with no lag. Two gt28r's at a bar would easily make 500whp. You could battle the new Porsche Turbo's for "who has the flattest tq curve in the world" bore 98mm stroke 92mm. Something else thats niccceeee. It would be a lot more simple then the other v8 choices as well

VQ's are heavy and not powerful. Definitely don't do that...

as for the q45... its a big heavy car.. needs vh45de, or maybe even a vg30dett.. . onea the larger displacement engine options for this application would make sense... though a sr q45 would be quite a silly car right up there with the f&f3 rb mustang |

the stock motor with a 5spd rocks.. its a great motor.. just make sure you change your chain guides out to the metal ones and replace your chain tensioners they suck and cause major issues. but the stock motor is very responsive with a 5spd and makes gobs of power.. just make custom headers and intake and exhaust setup and it pretty badass.. the valves are sodium filled.. strange huh? thats why there like 34 bux a pop lol i had to repace 2.. that and the only part that sucks is the valve covers have like almost 30 bolts keeping them on the head if you add up the coilpack bolts and the covers tat hold the cover on lol..

message length why not just take the easy way out and go ls1... i mean far superior aftermarket support, easier and cheaper parts, much lighter motor and more power potential. but if your sticking to nissan then eh i say just stick with the stock motor for simplicities sake and invest the money into som seriously nice wheels and body work. that will say VIP more than anything under the hood. |
