okay, WTF happened? Broken Tranny? or huh?!?

Okay, now here's the problem, i was driving around....and like all of a sudden, while in 3rd gear, my car starts stalling, then like it starts jumping, and reving around 3-4k RPM....The car shuts off by itself while i pull over...then i start it back up....ez!....Hmm....WTF? i get back on the road and the car just stalls and revs and jumps....i cant go pass 3.5k RPM....the car just shakes, as if there's no power....well thank god i made it home from walmart, but i could only go like maybe 40 mph MAX....anyone have a clue wtf happend?

When i parked my car, i rev'd it, but all it did was shake around 3.5 rpm....i dun dare go pass that, so here i am, typing away at 2:24 AM....Thanks in advance for the help....

can it go above the 3.5 k or did you just stop revving since it was bucking?

When you rev the car with the clutch down is the problem still there or when you take it out of gear into nutrel. If its still there it sounds like it could be mafs. If the problems only happen when you in gear i guess its bad tranny.

Sounds like your car is in limp mode. And that the maf isn't working properly. So I would suggest checking your maf. Could be a vacuum leak but I'm pretty sure it's your maf.

Woah. Don't use brake cleaner or anything else. That's a good way to destroy your maf.

Use maf cleaner; can be found as an aerosol from your local auto parts store.. If you can't find that, then pick up some contact cleaner. That's the proper way to clean it.

The maf is the piece that screws into the side of your airfilter box. It's held on my four screws and has a plug going into it. Unscrew the maf then unclip the electrical plug so you can clean the maf.

Whenever my MAF was dirty I couldn't tell by looking at it. Just spray some air intake cleaner in it to make sure. Then pull off the bigger hose coming off your intake tube on the passenger side of the engine and then spray some cleaner in there to clean out the AIV which may be contributing to your problem.

UPDATES!!!!!..............

My car is still dead....What i did:

Cleaned the MAF, Clean air filter, 3 sets of new spark plugs (bosce Plantinum, and NGK or something), new Fuel filter, new Valve cover gasket...STILL same problem...Even checked the rotors, and right now, are checking the wires connected to the MAF....ANYONE know wtf is going on?!!?!?

Problem (for ppl who wanna know again):

The car cannot idle. When i start it up, it tries to idle, but ends up dying. Sometimes it idles and sounds normal, but eventually it dies. When you drive, it bucks and chokes. It seems like the clutch is slipping, but i doubt it. The problem stops SOMETIMES if you rev the car really high (4k-4.5k). Shakes violently when bucking. It sounds like the car is farting constantly. <-- Suriously, that's how it sounds....

yeah your right, if it was the clutch you would notice a big diffrence in power and shaking. when you put it in gear, compared to reving it up in neutral. Neutal would be much smoother

Why did you replace the valve cover gasket?

Make sure you have power to the fuel pump and make sure it is priming when you turn the key to the ON position. Not the start position. You should hear a motor in the back for about 3 seconds.

^ im running no exhaust ><

Why i buy a head cover? I dunno, my brother wanted to try to see if that was it b/c it "looked" like 2 of my spark plugs were wet, but i dun think they were.

**btw, when we took out the spark plugs, why the hell are they like CHARCOAL black. It burnt? no pics in the manual we are using. ***

I think it might be the vacuum, i dun know...im at school right now, and 2 of my brothers are trying to fix the problem.

updates soon.

Charcoal black would indicate rich, white is lean. Check for leaks behind the MAF; I shot a blockoff plug out of my intake tube after the MAF one night and it would almost give me whiplash.
