FWD rims usually have a higher offset, while RWD rims usually have a lower offset.  you can use FWD rims if you use spacers, but i've heard bad things about the spacers, and also heard it is ok to have spacers.... i'm just confused as you are

Wheels aren't really FWD or RWD, but some places or companies will call wheels with offsets arround +40ish "FWD Rims" because thats what most modern FWD cars have. The wheels that don't fall under this catagory have offsests like 0 and are usually made to fit trucks or classic american cars.

When shopping for wheels for a 240sx it gets complicated. With FWD cars you usually want to match the offset to stock so you can avoid torque steer issues that occur. With our car though, there isn't this need. Ideal offset is +35 anywhere down to about +20 or even lower depending on how wide of rubber you want to use. Since most FWD cars are arround +40 or higher, and you want to stay as close to stock as possible, the vast majority of aftermarket wheels have offsets arround +40 and higher. These will be okay for a 240, if you plan to run 225 width tires or lower. American "RWD" rims wont work because the bolt patterns arent usually correct for 5 lug 240's, and never for 4 lug. If you want to run wide tires on a 240 (which is especially hard in 4 lug), you are probably looking at either a specialty company, or importing something from japan specifically designed for our cars.

Ok but what is the stock off set for 240? I thought that was +40 or am i completly out there?  And i will be running 15's 195 because of money issues.(can't afford new wheels and 4 new tires)
