nope go for it, but explain why you want to bypass your heater core.

If you want to bypass the heater, you have several options:

1) On the SR, take a flexible 3/4" ID heater hose and connect the two fittings on the back of the engine near the firewall together. On the KA, do the same with a 5/8" ID hose.

2) Slice off the fittings as close to the engine as you can and weld the openings shut.

There are some critics that say #2 is not as good as #1 because it doesn't allow coolant to circulate to the head as well, but pull up a diagram of the cooling system and decide for yourself.

Pros of bypassing heater core:

a) Easier to bleed cooling system.
b) More reliability because extra connections + heater core = prone to leak, blockage, etc.

Cons of bypassing heater core:

i) ability to heat (freeze to death) and defrost (can't see shi*)
ii) heater core acts like an additional radiator if your car overheats. just turn the heater on high and blast the fan

My recommendation is for (i) and (ii) alone, you should keep the heater core, but ultimately it's your choice.
