tail lamp fuse keeps blowing

ok so my tail lamp fuse keeps blowing... and i cant figure out why...
i have the gauge cluster out and looking for a reason that it would be blowing..i dont see any loose wires or anything.. i have also followed the wiring harness from the tail lamps to the fuse panel and dont see any broken wires...

this only happens when i turn or hit a bump..

any advice someone can give me would be great

thank you

Does the fuse blow when you hit the brakes?

no its really random when it blows
i have drove 50 miles with out it blowing..
or i drive 10 miles and have it blow 4 times

i might have just found out why.. my driver side front marker light wire looks like it got ripped out... and it was touching my side mount.. does that sound like a reason why that fuse would be blowing...

im not sure if the side markers are on the same fuse though.

If it's grounding out it could be cause of that. Reattach those wires and see if it helps.

hahah YUP.. i was laughing as well. One time i had a tech at mitsubishi tell that to one of my customers. what a crock of shit.

its a dc circuit, it needs to have a ground or else it wont work (illuminate). in this case, the circuit itself has a short. you need to find that cut wire which most likely contacts your chassis and this happens over bumps.

peace

Send a message via AIM to aznpoopy
another common trouble spot is the orange wire behind the radio. check that if what you found isnt the problem.

A bad ground or short will increase the resistance in the circuit, which creates a current spike and blow the fuse.

im not sure if the side markers are on the same fuse though.
Side marker lights ARE on the same fuse. They are part of the ILLUMINATION circuit which consist of dashboard lights along with front & rear side markers. If the wire providing power to your front side marker light touches any grounding metal on your car, (such as the car body itself..in your case it was the side mount intercooler), then it would cause an "electrical short" causing your fuse to blow out.

Anyhow, glad to see you were able to figure out what your problem was. Were you able to fix it yourself? Hope you did.
