Boost pressure sensor and Wastegate valve control solenoid need?

Are the factory boost pressure sensor and wastegate valve control solenoid need?
I know without the WVCS it will be a little more laggy but is it needed? And the boost pressure sensor sends a signal to the ECU to control boost "precisely" but is it needed?

no. only the mechanical components are needed. you just need the actuator, the arm that opens the wastegate flap, and a vacuum line running from a boost source to the actuator's nipple. g/l =]
