Question KA: E-fan causes engine to die? (has heart attack)

UPDATE: PLEASE READ MY 7th POST

hi i have a problem with my car. i will try to list everything that happened so its easy to understand. now ive been driving my car for several months and havent had any problems till now (several days after installing N60 maf).

well my car was randomly misfiring so i...

1. i pulled out my dizzy, cleaned the cap + rotor, put new wires on

2. timed it, (99.9% sure i got it right since i used writeup procedure)

3. it rained with my hood raised 2 inches

4. drove it 2 miles and it quit responding to my gas pedal then died

5. switched the N60 maf back to the stock one

6. runs a little then dies

7. put N60 back in, runs then dies

8. was able to drive it 30 miles on the highway but as soon as i get into town it stutters then dies, sometimes i can keep it alive by feathering gas pedal.

9. when stuttering and sputtering and sounding like a cammed V8 it emits some serious black smoke from exhaust

10. then suddenly its all over and the car runs almost fine, it feels slower and sometimes slows down instead of accelerating when i hit the gas pedal.

11. cleaned the maf and TB, still does it

well i have to go work so i cant check other things, this is driving me nuts!!!

any help will be appreciated

buddy of mine had a similar prob turns out his EGR Valve was Fubar so we ripped it out and now it run alot better. to test it disconect the vacume line (and pug it) that go's to the EGR Intake Diaphram. See if that helps.

I would say maf wiring, same thing happend to me (black smoke, stumbling, dying after a few secs) and it was a bad maf. I know you swapped mafs already but I would lean towards your wiring

the maf ground is grounded to both ecu ground and chassis ground

BUT I THINK I FOUND THE PROBLEM! when my electric fan comes on, the car does its running bad and dying thing, i checked it out and when the car sits there with the wire to the fan unhooked its fine, but when i hook the wires up it immediatley dies. so now my question is WHY? im kinda bad with electronics.

my fan has a wire coming from the battery to an aftermarket potentiomiter (this thing were i choose at what temp i want the fan to come on) from there it goes to the fan and the fan is grounded to the edge of the radiator.

now my maf was grounded to the chassis and it did the whole smoke/die thing so i grounded it to the edge of the radiator, on the other side of the engine.

so when my fan kicks on my motor dies. but if my maf isnt grounded to the radiator then the fan doesnt work, as soon as i ground my maf to the radiator the fan comes on and the engine dies. so i need to find new grounds for both of them?

and where would i get a different power source for the fan?

well i regrounded both of them to the chassis and no problems so far

i guess the maf ground wire was becoming a positive source and the maf just quit working
