Will S14 fuel pump work with S13? plz help w/prob compatibility compatability on does

Hey guys I tried to search but whenever using the terms s13 or s14 come into play searching is a bitch. Anywho, could you please just tell me if I can use an S14 fuel pump in an S13 car?

I am trying to fix my car... here is the story. One day out of nowhere my car wouldn't start. I checked the fuses and they were ok (at least to the best of my memory). I am 99% sure that I even put a new fuse in the fuel pump slot and it DID NOT BLOW, but the fuel pump still didn't work. I could be wrong here... but... I'm pretty sure I did that. So, I got a fuel pump from an S14 and put it in. Afterwards the car still wouldn't start... weird. Well, I checked the fuses again after replacing the pump and it was blown... weird. I replaced it and the car started up and drove fine for a few days. Then all the sudden the car wont start again. I check fuel pump fuse and it is blown. Now, every time I replace the fuse and try to start the car, the fuse blows.

Please help!

it should work, because i believe originally when fuel pumps came out for the s14, it was the same as for an s13 but the sock was too short, so you will want to use your s14 sock. not completely sure, but i think it will work.

Fuses keep blowing to let you know you have a problem in the fuel pump circuit. Find it and fix first. S13 and S14 pumps are essentially the same but the sock/filter is different.

Ok... thanks for the info so far. I was sure that the fuel pumps were interchangable but thanks for clearing that up.

Now to MORE! hehe.

I finally just went and bought a multimeter to test some stuff and then messed with it all for a while. Basically, I can unplug the fuel pump from the harness and just check the harness and everything seems fine. I put in a new fuse, put red lead on the positive wire going to the fuel pump in the harness and then the black on the black wire that goes to the fuel pump and I got a steady 12V signal. THEN, I hooked up the fuel pump to the harness and did the same thing, well as soon as the pump started to prime (voltage got to about 3), the fuse blew and voltage dropped back to 0.

Am I correct in assuming that whatever is wrong here HAS to be either the fuel pump or something that is attatched to that thing that I pull out of the tank and plug into the harness. Sorry if my wording here is hard to understand.

Any ideas or suggestions? I'm thinking maybe fuel pump but it's weird that the car drove home fine, then all the sudden the fuse blew. It's also interesting that the old pump blew w/out blowing it's fuse, then coincidently now this pump messes up... etc.

I only checked voltage because I don't understand how to check the amps or whatever all that other stuff on the multimeter are... I'm no electrician. I'm assuming that the problem has to be the fuel pump or a bad ground or something on that fuel pump cage structure just because w/out that in the system, the system seems fine. Is that correct?.. or could there be an amp problem still considering that techically when I use the multimeter to complete the system, it's not the fuel pump... and there are diff. amp resistors or some crap like that that I don't understand in the fuel pump that aren't in the multimeter.

Ok update again...

I just plugged in the actual fuel pump assembly and everything to the harness, but disconnected the actual fuel pump and checked the voltage between the wires that go to the actual pump itself. This did not blow the fuse and I got the 12v. SO, this tells me it HAS to be the fuel pump right? I just checked the fuel pump itself and checked the ohms or whatever (omega symbol). In the FSM it says I need .5 but my fuel pump tested at .8 Is .2-.3 a lot?... does this mean my fuel pump is bad?

NOTE: I don't exactly know how to use a multimeter. Here is what I'm doing. I put the switch thing on resistance range of 200(omega symbol), it's the lowest range on my multimeter. The number I get is 0.8. In the crappy book that came with my multimeter it says the resolution (whatever that is) for the 200 range is 0.1(omega symbol). I am guessing that this means I'm getting .8 ohms and that resolution just means to what decimal place it measures or something.

i would just stick a higher number fuse in, if its a 15 then id try a 20, if that blows id keep going higher till it stops blowing yupuhuh
