I found a great way to clean up faded emblems today.  I soaked them in a vinegar solution to help loosen the adhesive on the back.  It didn't really get the tape off, but damn....my emblems look brand new, they did look like crap.

The front Nissan emblem on my 1991 is pretty nasty. 10 minutes with some simple green, some water, an old toohbrush, a q-tip, and eventually my dremel (be careful&#33<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''> got it shining. &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

It's just adhesive...take a heat gun/blow drier and heat it up, then take some floss...and off it goes.
