today, as i left for school, i really had to shove my foot down on the clutch to get her started. then, after school, she started up no problem. then i drove home to pick up my ticket and check, and i needed to push down really hard... then when i came out of the municipal court, ticket paid, she wouldn't start. not at all. no cranking or anything. no lights came on or anything! jump starting didn't work, so we push-started her. now it's home and not starting. what's going on?

Check out my starting problem post. Welcome to my hell. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'>
If you hear a click, the start is ok. If you don't have any lights, etc, your battery is toast. Charge it, see if it starts. If it does, and your car stops dead in the middle of the road, your alternator is gone. Lemme know.

ARGH! that's the same damn problem! did you figure out what was wrong with yours? i get a click, but the weird thing is... my stereo works fine, my power windows work fine, everything works. i'm guessing my starter is shot. but it happened so sudden! MAYBE ON AN OFF CHANCE, my stereo drained the battery and i've got JUST ENOUGH juice to use the stereo. i dunno.

There's two clicks. The click you hear is the accessories relay going off. A few more degrees of turning you should hear the seccond click. It is soft and you wont be able to hear it with a lot of traffic arround. If you don't get that seccond click it could possibly be the clutch safety switch.

well, although i'm not hearing all these clicks you mentioned, it WAS the clutch safety switch- my dad showed me what was wrong. the plastic knob that is attached to the pedal and pushes the switch in broke. we fashioned a replacement out of a bolt nut and a couple washers.
Apparition, that's probably what's wrong with yours. there's a pin-like button that goes through a hole on your clutch pedal bar. fill the hole and problem's solved. |

Now this clutch safety thing, will that totally stop the car from starting? Or just intermittenly when its warm? (Thats my problem at the moment)
like if I run it for awhile, turn it off and try to turn it back on. It doesn't start. Leave it for 5 mins, and I'm golden.

no, that's not what it's supposed to do. it stops you the operator from startingt he car without using the clutch, so that you don't start it in gear and run over someone. it's just a little button that tells the cpu if the clutch is in or not. i'm gonna bypass mine so i can use a remote starter.

So methinks it's something else then. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='
