Best Way to Install Sideskirts

Yes, I used the search button lol.... all I could find was how to install kouki sides on a zenki.

Guys, just your opinion, but what is the best way to install sideskirts on a zenki. I've seen zipties (lol, definitely not doing that), rivets used in the door sill and on either end where the mud flaps go in the wheel wells. Any other methods? Also did any of you guys trim your sideskirts up to make them fit a little better before installing them? Also would you recommend painting them myself or getting them professionaly done? Thanks guys

well, i installed my s13 sideskirts with the rivets in the door sill and on the ends with the mud flap holes, and they've held up very nicely, as far as painting goes, i just sanded mine, sprayed primer, fixed a few problems, then used spray paint, about 3 even, thin coats, then wet sanded, and finally sprayed them with clear, and used rubbing compound on them and they look like they were done professionally, it's all in how much time you take and its all in the prep.

good stuff so far guys, anybody else have some experience with this? Also should I do slight trims on the skirts so they fit better?

pretty much with all aero, your going to have to heat it, sand it, f it up so it fits ok, should be kinda snug, then just zip tie it on there, unless you have a show car, in which case take it to some KUSTOMZ shop, otherwise zip ties and track it.

yeah most aero needs some work for it to fit properly

you can always use double sided adhesive tape for the side skirts if they're not sitting flush with the body

I used self-tapping screws (1/8" x 1/2" or so, maybe 5/8") in the wheel wells and in the door sills of mine because I envisioned having to take them off occasionally... which came in handy yesterday when I had to remove my fender.

If you're going the tape way, that Grey/red back 3m tape (which is labeled VHB right?) or the stuff that actually is labeled VHB is the best, because it won't vibrate loose if the side skirt is not flush with the door sill. It's the same stuff they use to hold the glass to the frame on the outsides of skyscrapers, so it's strong.

I like rivets myself, but don't like having to drill/re-rivet if I ever take them off. For using body filler/painting though, they're much more friendly that screws.

same as others, rivets or bolts or zip ties where the mud flaps used to be and heavy duty double sided tape where it meets the body and door sill

3M double sided tape for the top parts of the side skirts, and then drill holes and rivets on the bottom and sides near the wheel wells.

i didnt want to use self tapping screws.

zip ties are my best friend.

I've left my sideskirts on the track so many times.

if it wasn't for the zipties then it'd be done for.

It just depends on what you do.

Drifting =Zipties
Regular driving with occasional removal of SS = revits or self tap
Show car = mold in

I use zipties and double sided tape (5lb outdoor 3m tape found at home depot).

I've never seen 240s mold sideskirts before... sounds ugly

Zipties break and allow the skurt to fall off a bit easier than screws and tape. Saves cash.

I used pop rivets. The joker before had bolts on em. Looked tacky as hell. Pop rivets all the way. On the side, and on the top.

The gray tape with red backing is super strong. It's made by 3M and it's called Molding Tape. That is all.
