wtf steering hub removal??

My last car came with an aftermarket steering hub....that car is dead and now I need it for the new one, I cant figure out how to get it off though. There was a nut in the center that holds it on that I managed to get off but I cant figure out from there....it wont budge. Any ideas?

the large nut in the center is the only thing holding it on except friction. you may need a steering wheel puller.

i would put the big nut back on just a little bit so when you yank on you dont hit yourself in the head with the wheel. lol

I've found that the best way to do this when the hub is stuck is to put your hands behind the wheel (almost as if you are hugging it from the bottom)

Then take your fists and hit back and forth on the back of the wheel

Alternate hitting it with left and right arms so it creates kind of a see saw motion (this seems to work better than just yanking)

Also put the nut on there and thread it a couple turns so when the wheel and hub comes off it doesn't hit you in the face

A little PB / liquid wrench on the steering spline doesnt hurt either

i use a technique where you have the steering wheel on but the nut off.

a few hits at the top bottom and sides and somehow... the steering wheel comes off, with the hub. or if its stock the whole thing.

crazy though because i hit towards the dash not away.

If its really stuck on there the best way to get it off is get a slide hammer kit from auto zone. Free rental. Use a hooked end and in one pull it will take off the most stubborn hub. I know from experience not just here say.

Take a mallet or hammer and tap the center bolt sticking out from the middle and use ur legs (knees) and ur other arm to pull it back. It should pop off hella easy.

Why would you do that when you could rent the proper tool, a steering wheel puller?

All you need is 2 longer bolts that thread into the holes that the wheel would normally bolt to and some washer. If any of you guys are slow, I can take pics for you
