Problem Starting Car: Is it Ignition Switch or Starter?

My car has been having problems starting lately....? Doesn't make any kind of noises, just wont start. I have to try repeatedly before it finally starts. Each time I drive it takes longer to start the car. I'm thinking it's either the ignition switch or the starter? HOW DO I TELL THE DIFFERENCE to find out which needs to be replaced? As far as condition of my car its pretty clean all around..?
Just need a paint job... anyways its a s14a if ur wondering...?
All post and commits will be greatly appreciated... THANKS A LOT

at one point when it doesn't want to start try tapping on the solenoid of the starter and see if it makes any difference... i think the best thing also if you have the time is to pull it off and have it bench tested at a local parts supplier.
