![]() Ive got a Z32 vlsd with J30 6 bolt output shafts. The output shafts snap into place but they seem too long. They are not touching the rubber seals. Can someone confirm that these shafts are not fitting correctly and it will not hold fluid or this is acceptable??

they wont fit there are just like the 240sx output shafts, i have a 6 bolt on one side of my 300z diff because the axles wouldn;t fit.
so picture it like this 240 driverside axle--240output shaft--300z diff--300z output shaft--300z axle they wont lock in like the 300z stock output but the pressure that the 240sx axle will put onto the output shaft will hold it onto the diff get it |

What 240 output shaft did you use? From an open diff? Why is it that everyone says J30 output shafts make a Z32 diff a bolt right in project if they dont fit?? They appear approx 1/4" too long.
![]() Anyone else have anything to add to this? |

Easy way around that.... Get the non turbo axles/output shafts that come with the Diff. A Z32 N/T is a bolt in affair with 240s if you have a complete LSD conversion.
Either way that will be fine. -Gabe |

Ok wait I just realized that since this diff has an abs sensor on the snout it must be 240 or J30 diff. I bought it with no output shafts at all. I got 6 bolt vlsd output shaft so i could just bolt it in my S13. If its J30 or 240 why wouldn't these 6 bolt output shafts fit properly??

the j30 should work w/o any mods just has some play it will fit but will be a tight fit cuz of the slight extra length of the diff snout. just play the d.s onto the diffs snout and you're good to go, along with axles does that help |

ok here we go since the misinformation is flying all over this thread.
First yes you have a J30 or a 240 diff if there is a ABS sensor on the snout. NA Z32 diffs did not have this. Second off you have to be careful putting the output shafts in. You can actually not get them lined up and they will not seat properly. If you do this and force it you will mess up the splines and the shaft may not go in all the way. Even if it is the right shaft. You do not need to mix and match 300zx and 240sx axles as well and I would not recommend that to anyone because the 300zx axles are longer, both of them! Period! Jesusfreakdrifter if you do that your putting extra force on the seal which will cause it to leak. That aside if you gently tap the shaft back out and make sure you have it on the right and the splines are ok. You can then line it up and tap it back in. Use a large rubber mallet for this. If you can get the shaft another 1/8 of in inch you should be good to go. Its ok to have some the metal outer protection ring exposed as long as the shaft is seated a bit farther in than in your pic. Now if you have pounded harshly on the shaft while trying to put it you probably have damaged the splines and that is why it will not slide in any farther. I have seen this mistake first hand and I have seen a rear end guy file the spines to correct the damage. It can and does happen so be carefull.

from the looks of it your not using an lsd output shaft. i could be wrong but thats what happened to me, on one side you can use your stock output shaft from your open diff, but you will need to grind it down it a little bit shorter, and thats about the space that i had to grind off. and on the other side you will need to use a s14, or hicas s13 vlsd output shaft on the longer side.
i could be wrong because i am new to this, but thats just my personal experience.hope that helps |

What is wrong is that you either did not search enough. Or you did not buy a weld locd.
Other than that please elaborate on what you are speaking of.
