What makes 1 quick release better than another?

I am planning some mods for over winter and one of them is a new steering wheel and quick release hub. I was looking around and a lot of people seem to be running the NRG ones. But what makes one hub better than another? What is the justification for spending the extra $ on a works bell? I have no problem spending a little more for a quality product, but what makes it so much better?

If you say you have no problem spending money on a quality product then just get a works bell.

Hit up Logan at Aspec he'll hook you up.

I'm not familiar with the newer NRG quick releases but I have seen first hand ones that will tweak after a duration of time, giving you a basically loose steering wheel that rotates front to back...

If you want super quality get a WB.
If you want super features get a WB.
If you wanna be cheap get a FET / Splash quick release.
If you really wanna be cheap but want features, get the NRG.

Damn I just got called cheap by Squidd.

LOLz I run a FET one because it was cheap and it's only like an inch and a half which doesn't put my steering wheel too far back.

But I want to upgrade to a WB though.

Whaaa I run FET.

It's made by Works Bell! It's not cheap as in crappy, it's cheap as in it does what you need for half the price of the full WB baller shit.

I LOVE my FET.

Nothing says baller like upgrading from a perfectly good FET quick release just so your quick release matches your stupid "works bell" keychain.

I'm not a baller. I don't even have a quick release, cause my hub's so frickin huge.

Jack is.

A good quick release is one that doesn't gain play over use. And when you need to get out in a hurry. it disengages quickly. all other things are just accents. weld-on spline or ball bearing. as long as it does the job quickly and repeatedly that is what matters

I have a WB, and there's no play. None. Ever.

Buy one, and you'll never need another. Just buy more bases to stick in all your cars so you can just transfer the wheel.

i <3 my aworks... its cheap, but theres no play whatsoever. just as sterdy as nrg, cheaper than nrg, not as high quality as wb, but gets the job done. plus, its not the same ball bearing pattern as nrg, so for all those million people with a steering wheel with an nrg qr, you can't jack my car

i would never run an ebay quick release... i know alot of the more expensive ones have a "crush" setup so if your ever in an accedent, and you slam into the steering wheel, the quick release will actually crush itself so you dont get hurt as bad, i'm not 100% sure on who makes them like that... but i've seen them crushed after an accedent, and the driver is always happy he spent the extra money

but i guess thats just imo

I've never heard of this before in my life.

I've heard of hubs doing this, but not quick releases.

thats the hub. not the qr

ebay quick releases suck because

1. the release mechanism is too soft / too hard or annoying to use
2. there is play in the mechanism leading to play in ur steering... feels like ass

if you have such a qr, just yank it off and bolt that shit to the hub. quick fucking around. go wb or go home.

I have a Momo hub, it has the crush "feature".... I really don't see how a QR would do the same thing... and even if ther was one, tween it and the QR, the steering column would be in your chest

I'm with 240Falkon: I have the NRG, its be installed for about 2 years, zero slop, but then my 240 isn't my DD or anything so YMMV I guess... y'all got me worried too now LOL

Any input on the NRG slim? The S14's steering column is a bit longer than the S13's to begin with
