Hi, I'm just doing alittle research before I buy but is there really a difference between the Cold Air Intake and the normal injen intake? I know its getting more oxygen but can you feel a difference? Thanks guys!

a little (2-5hp at most). the colder the outside air, the better it is. Is it worth it? well, for me yes, since I basically get them for dirt cheap. Would I pay 100bucks for it? no.

ok...I've been getting some PM's...so I'll just post here. I get s13 intake w/CAE for 210, S14 intake w/CAE 235. If you go to enjukuracing.com, check out the price for the intake alone, it's 190, then the CAE for 100.
I'll go to the shop this weekend, and see what price I can get for the CAE alone....but basically, I get 40% off of retail price.(for intakes) I just called, and the girl at the counter didn't sound like she recognized me, and quoted 80 bucks for CAE...that doesn't sound right....so, I'm going in Saturday to talk to them....I'll let you guys know how much the CAE is alone. what I meant above about dirt cheap, is that I think 210 for the intake/CAE is dirt cheap...as I'm basically getting the CAE for 20 bucks, although, I've never bought the CAE alone...so I'll check, promise <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=' ![]() *oh, btw...I used enjukuracing prices for example because they have pretty good prices.(not picking on them, I like those guys, I really do!<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=' ![]() |

someone told me that having the cae is bad due to the fact that water will get into the engine hydrolocking it!!!! do we have a problem with this and if so is there a fix?

The odds of submerging the front of your car is very slim. You would literally have to drive through that deep a water to cause any harm. If you should decide to cross the Mississippi with your car, you can get the AEM Bypass valve for around $40. When a vacuum is created within the CAE from water, the bypass valve closes and the engine then breathes through the foam element that comes with it.

I have to agree about the CAE. I wouldnt worry about getting it wet. I have one and have driven it through heavy rain with zero problems.
As far as the cost, I dont think its worth the expense. maybe $60-$70 but most have them for around $100. Then again it seemed to free up a lot of hidden horses or maybe it was because I finally changed my fuel filter. Its so amazing what regular maintenance can do! I used birthday gifts to get my cold air extension so it didnt affect me. I like it a lot though.

Man Is that true?
I allways take my cae off if I see it gone rain, since I read some where that water can get to your engine. So if what your saying is true i never take off my cae <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=' ![]() |

I've never taken off my CAI during heavy rain or while washing the car or whatever. The water has never been a problem, and I don't think they ever got past the filter anyway.
Like what someone else said, it's only going to free up probably a couple HPs. I personally can't tell the difference. However, without the cold air extention, I could feel the car having less power on really really hot days. I'm guessing the CAI will help more on very cold days. Isn't it supposed to be something like +1 HP per -10 degrees in temperature? |

I bought the CAE because whe I had just the SRI, I would loose power once the engine bay heated up. I was sucking in the Very hot air in the bay, thus loosing power. With the CAE, I do not experience this.
Also I never take mine of either.. really is pointless. the only way air and water can even get in there is through the vent in the front of the bumper. the filter sits in a closed in area

From posts in the past I've seen that people have dynoed their CAI with +3.? HP and +5 ft./lb. increase. I also learned people like their CAi for the noise it makes. IIRC, it makes a hissing noise.

I plan on getting a muffler shop to do my exhaust piping and buying a CAI soon. I'll probably get my car dynoed after to inform eveyone about the numbers I got. As always I'm gonna be hoping for +100 horsies...eventhough it won't happen <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'>
