s13 s13 ride hieght??

sorry for asking ANOTHER STUPID QUESTION..
ok.... after the swap i was running low on cash so i had to settle for some megan racing track coilovers and i m running 215/45/17 in the front and 275/45/17 in the rear and i lowerd the front all the way screwed down and the back like an inch from all the way screwed down. i like the way the rear sits i had my fenders rolled to fit the tires under there but id like the front to go lower.. i was wondering if there was any way to do that without buying different coilovers that actually go lower??

suspension wise i have,
megan coilovers
dc sports front and rear strut bars
some off brand thicker front and rear sway bars
tein tie rod ends
energy suspension bushing kit

More negative camber in the front. Tire wear might suck a bit, but it will definitely sit lower. More negative camber should help you grip a little better too while drifting.

I'm confused! I've seen dudes with Megan be low before, I didn't say they were good coils but they would go low.

I'm sure he can go lower on the coils, but if he does with his current alignment, then he would rub like mad(judging from the picture). Throw some negative camber at it, and yes, Megans can go low.

To the OP: If the car is not daily driven, then yes I would definitely give it some negative camber up front. You should get slightly more grip under hard cornering/drifting because the tires will kinda "bite into" the road surface better. I have maxed out negative camber on my Ksport basics, and there was a noticeable difference in cornering after I did it.

I've never dealt with megan coilovers but have you removed one of the collars? Some if not most coilovers have three collars and you can remove one of them for a little bit more.

Yeah that's a understatement.

That's a lot of tires to be spinning.

you the mean the grip of the 275? that thing is massive , your car looks like it has a raked stance, put like a 225 on the rear and slam the thing
but it s your ride, do what you like

I'm sure the f430 is retarded for running 225 front and 285 rear!

Anyways, yeah 215 only up front seems tiny :P But hey 275 is kinda cool I guess hehe :P

Visit the maximum rubber thread to show it off :P

http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.p...85#post1700385

Lowering your car will ultimately worsen your ride feel and handling.. so don't push it my friend. And don't do something retarded like 215/40 please... Don't do the whole 'for looks' crap, you won't enjoy your car while driving it, and you'll just impress a bunch of idiots who'll think 'yer ride is d0pe homie'

try something not in a 45 series, get a 215/40 all around and itll get lower.
you umm, lowered it correctly right?, you didnt just drop the spings down right? (im asking cause it should be lower if you did it right as you said)

??????????? whats your logic? lower center of gravity, less body roll, may not be as comfortable as stock but that statement doesnt make much sense

Do you know where the motor is located on an f430? Then ask yourself where the motor is located in our cars. Then ask yourself why you even made that comparison.

Suspension geometry gets thrown off (bumpsteer city). For drift, I say set the ride height where ever you want it but for grip driving, it's best to try to keep the suspension geometry optimal. Shit, even for drift it's better to have the car raised up but that shit looks retarded and drifting is about looking cool and having fun.

To the OP:

Did you adjust the ride height by turning the lower mounts up? Or did you just drop the springs as far as they could go using the collars?

Just pull out the bottom collar if you can't go low enough or get some shorter length springs from swift or wherever.

yeha hes right ,^ you need to run the mounting part of the coilover up. i always call it the body ride height adjustment. mine is lowered on some tien coils , half of the drop is from dropping the coils and half is from dropping the body down using this part of the peice. my car still rides good

Remove you granny fender liner. Relocate your engine harness as well as your hood release cable, hammer your fender then remove a collar and check to see if you like it.

The F430 has a narrow front tires so that when all the rich retards who can't drive who buy one take a corner to fast, the car will just plow instead of spinning out.

If you actually wanna drive the car right, stick some 255s in the front to compensate the 275s of the back.

You could always run 15x8, 197,50's like me. I am much lower because of the smaller rim. Plus, I can break loose and hold longer drifts with my little single cam

And as far as suspension. To my knowledge. (from autocross, not drift). Once your bottom arms are going past a horizontal mark. Your car is sitting in a way it wasn't designed to handle in. Meaning, cars are built to handle thier best. and going to low can compensate that.
Now I am sure their are exceptions. But i bet the design computers and engineers at nissan know a little more than a couple kids on a forum.
So you need to find a compensation in ride height, lower center of gravity, stance. And what you astetically want.

It's comon knowledge that wide rear and narrow front will cause major understeer. If they increased the size of the front tires, the car would be more prone to oversteer, which is dangerous for little old men who wear diapers.

You must mean that 215 is not excessive enough, cuz I plan on running 275's on all 4! As for the ride heighth question you are too low as it sits right now. When you lower a car the roll center of the suspension drops more than the center of gravity, that effectively gives the body more leverage on the suspension. As a result you get MORE body roll and must run stiffer springs to compensate. Also you will begin to gain positive camber as the suspension compresses, especially in the front, so you have to run more camber. Unfortuanetly running stiffer springs and more camber is only a band-aid for the REAL problem. The stiffer springs will make the car unstable over bumps (especially mid-corner ones) and the increased camber will cause the car to have less traction in a straight line (both accelerating and braking). If you really wanna run low then you need either ball joints that are spaced down to bring the geometry back or you need fully adjustable arms.

stfu, be careful, you might come across as whiny and envious. no one in their right mind really pushes a f430 to its limit like that, let alone on public roads. stop trying to justify how guys balling around in cars any of us would want are pussies.
