tried it all, turbo/manifold studs comming loose.
thread lock = fail
locking washer = fail locking nut = fail nothing will hold. the last time i used locking washers, locking nut, and even toped it off with thread lock and it still managed to come loose. im running out of t25 gaskets so any info will help. Im running project nissan semi-solid mounts and the car vibrates a good amount. unless the studs keep stretching those mounts are shaking every nut loose on that turbo. Tomorrow is my third time redoing that gasket because of this problem. any input ? thanks |

double nut and thread lock. the 2nd nut keeps the 1st nut tight. the thread lock will burn off first time it gets hot but there will be crap left over that hopefully acts like a little stopper. if double nut doesn't work, spot weld. on my manifold, i have double nut on 3 of them and a spot weld on 1 stud where i couldn't get 2 nuts

dude
you fail Bolt bolt form the turbo side to the manifold when it comes out from the top, put a nut with a lockwasher on it the problem is the studs are comming loose on the manifold side, so eliminate them.

thanks for the info. Im running a stock manifold so I will need to get it drilled. I just checked and ran out of t25 gaskets. Anyone know of other cars that use a t25 other then 300zx so i can buy a gasket at local auto parts store?

300zx doesnt use t25 gaskets. 300zx uses tb2209 gaskets.
Anyways. A big problem with old manifolds/studs is that the studs stretch and continue to stretch. I had the same problem and so did many of my customers. We figured out that if you replace the studs with either oem or arp and put a tiny tack weld on the nut it will stay tight. www.ewwiwop.com

thanks for the correction. im already running arp studs that are just long enough to for 1 nut on the turbo end. anyone know if arp sells studs long enough for a nut on each end? and also any t25 turbo cars?
Thanks |

my turbo studs broke and backed out when i used locking washers. i just got the OEM lock tabs and its holds just fine now. those seem to be the only things that work besides the tack weld idea.

Which locktite are you using? Red or blue?
If you seriously don't wont it coming back off put a new nut on lock washer with the red locktite and take a punch and buger up the threads after you have it completly tight. Then let it set so the locktite cures. If that don't work stick a rag in the gas tank and let er eat!!!!!
