really? with godaddy i've always paid for the domain ($10) and two months of hosting ($8) and then starting on the 3rd month, $4 a month

so $18 up front.

Most hosting companies prefer that initial lump sum over a contract rather than a month-month income.

The only company that comes to mind with a monthly service is DreamHost. However, just like TV or phone services...they include a one-time setup fee.

I run a hosting company. www.Outlawhost.com I ran a GB a while back for zilvia heads. Not a sponsor anymore, as not too many want web hosting on a car forum. http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?t=112920 I can give a good deal though on quality hosting, meaning at cost. With cPanel fantastico, blah blah. Godaddy and the like suck. Trust me go to web designer forums and see what they go with. Fantastico gives you pre-installed scripts so you can have a forum, blog or whatever set up in seconds. Just throwing this out, I don't make any money on this, that is why I don't advertise anymore, make it on web design and hosting packages. 2 months free cancel anytime.
