s13 350z wheels on a s13?

I have a s13 and I am doing the 5 lug conversion. I want to put on the 17" 350z wheels. The wheels have 225/50/r17 tires and my car has a 1.8 inch drop. Will it rub? are the tires two fat?

Cutting it pretty really close with a 1.8" drop, you might have to use spacer to clear (not sure off the top of my head the offset on those wheels), then maybe roll the fenders. Plenty of ways to make it work though.

I have seen it on other post on zilvia but with different tires...225/40-45/r17. BUt I am not sure if the 225/50/r17 tires work. One zilvia member has it on his car...his car looks nice and he did not have to roll it. BUt on one of his post he said he has to go with 40-45's so when turns it does not rub.

225/40/17 tires have ~3.54 inch tall side walls,
225/50/17 tires have ~ 4.429 inch tall side walls,

The 50's will be 1.778 inches taller than the 40's, that's a lot more rubber to fit inside there. I suspect you would be rubbing just from casual driving (not to mention aggressive cornering) with the amount of lowering you have, Try it out, but anticipate having to roll the fender some.

Edit: (I should point out only about half of that 1.778 will be eating up your wheel gap, since the other half will go to raising the car up)

depending on what suspension you have, the 50 series tire might rub on the front strut slightly. If worst comes to worst and you dont wanna change tires, a 5mm spacer will do.

Although, IMO 50 series on a 17" is too tall on an S chassis.
