Hey guys,

Just recently acquired a new exhaust leak on the "exhale". Push the gas, sounds fine, but when I let off... ooo baby listen to that. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='

So I'm looking for new exhausts, but wanted to know, how difficult is it to do on my own? What do I need, and more importantly, do I need to do any welding? Looking to do the HKS hyper or the Apexi dual. So based on either of these two exhausts, what kind of work can I expect?

Also did a search, and there is nothing on the actual install of one.

If you purchase a full catback exhaust, all you need to do is turn a wrench and pull.  Pretty much a bolt on affair, though it will require some effort.  Only reason it would be harder is if your bolts are rusted on or stripped.  Or if the exhaust doesn't match up well (though most 240 exhausts seem well made).  Plus they'll include new gaskets and bolts.

If you're just looking at a new muffler then you'll probably need to go to mieneke or something so they can cut off the old and weld on the new.

I got the N1 Dual from Apexi.  It was fairly easy to do.  The only thing was balancing the weight of it since I was by myself.  I just used the rubber exhaust hangers to help out.

I soaked my bolts for about 3 hours prior to it though.  Vise grip on one side, torque wrench on the other and they popped off with ease.

It came with all new gaskets and bolts.  However, I think the stock bolts suck ass.  The bolts included with the Apex are replacements, but they are the same size.  14mm I think.  I hated them because they were too small for my high flow cat.  I headed over to Home Depot and picked up some 17mm bolts, nuts, and lock washers.  Now it fills that hole appropriately.

I took mine to a shop to have the 5zigen installed. It took about 7 mins total for the install. It's that easy.

Yeah a shop will do it real quick.  First off they arent nearly as lazy as I was.  They dont play around the entire time.  Second they ahve a lift.  Much easier access.

Probably wont be a lot for a shop to do.  Meineke or someone who deals in mufflers probably could do it quick and cheap if you didnt want to do it yourself.
