Punctured radiator at last autocross

Recently I went to an autocross in the OC area. I had gone on a few runs and found that my Koyo aluminum radiator was leaking. It shorted out my electric fan and blew a fuse. I borrowed my friend’s spec Miata for the rest of the day. When I was coming around a long sweeping turn near the back of the course I started to drift because of the Miata’s short wheelbase. This was at least the second time that I had done a really cool drift and didn’t mean to. I thought it was great until I realized how much time I had lost. I also remember piling into a few cones that day and one time where I caught one and drug it under the Miata. Because I was technically on staff for the event that day I felt personally responsible for picking it up and hand delivering the cone back to its rightful place. This took longer than I thought because I had to climb out from inside the Miata’s roll cage. I finally mastered the sweeping turn that I drifted on but not before spinning out a few times. At the end of the day as I limped my 240 home on the verge of overheating I thought about what a fun day it had been and hoped that next time I go I would be able to drive my own car for the whole day. Well I have some work to do.
