Power FC initial setup/street tune???
I just got a Power FC and datalogit for my redtop sr20 to go along with the new cams/turbo/inj/etc that I've been gathering over the winter. I'm looking for some help from some of the guys that actually know what they're doing as far as tuning goes. So for the initial setup I know that before I do anything, I need to go to settings and do the INT ALL to reset all factory defaults. Then go and set my maf, and my injector correction. Alot of people say to use the base maps that are posted on enthalpy's site, instead of apex'i preloaded maps.
This is where I get confused a little, with the power fc, I know that it will automatically adjust the preloaded maps for the larger injectors, but when I change the map do I need to go back through the entire map and correct it for the injectors or does the pfc do all that? And how safe will it be to do some street tuning on enthalpy's suggested base map? I don't want to go out and detonate real bad, or be way too lean and BOOM there goes all that work. Is the base map just going to let me put to a dyno and get everything done, or will I actually be able to get into boost and do some street tune before the dyno, so I can save some money and not be on the dyno for 5 hours. I have an Innovate LC-1 wired up to the datalogit so I will be able to log my afr through the pfc map, but just wanted to make sure this would be safe. Any suggestions/help from experience would be appreciated. I've done some slight tuning, but that was just with a safc, I think I got pretty good at that, but that wouldn't be able to run with the new mods. Also what would be a safe rev limit for this setup? Oh, here are the specs: S13 redtop Stock bottom end BC 264s, springs, retainers Greddy RAS DW 740cc inj Walbro 255 Treadstone T3 topmount mani Stock intake mani T3/T4 50 trim .48 exh Tial 38mm WG .9bar spring, I also have a 1 bar spring, don't know which to run. |

pfc will NOT automatically adjust itself for the larger injectors, try to monitor your knock levels with the commander/datalogit. any knock level above 50 is bad (detonation). You need to know the lag time for the larger injectors and perform the corrections in the injector menu because the base map on pfc are for 370cc.I got my car tuned in about 2 and a half hours. redline deends on where your turbo starts losing effeciency/dropping boost. safest way is to do it on a dyno. either way you are looking at dyno time

Haha you said my name.
What color are the DW injectors? If they are purple, leave the lag time the same, and just decrease the injector size. Keep the stock PFC (ignition) base map in, because it is more retarded than enthalpy's, and you will not be ready to start adding timing until the af/r's are sorted. After that, start tuning af/r in part throttle, at low boost, datalogging, and working your way deeper into the throttle. WATCH OUT! *For the Car getting hot! *For a "ruffles bag crumpling" noise under the hood *For allot of knock. Just tune it right! Don't "Tune" the ignition map off of the knock sensor, while it may be a good tool in letting you know if something is wrong, a load based dyno is the best way to realize the increase and ceiling of increased timing verses tq. Other than that! Have fun! I had a PFC on my old red top and had a blast with it, messed with it all the time, showed the commander off to the girls, and steve is doing some really good tuning now with FCLoggit! Rev limit! Should be the last of your worries right now, mechanical is going to be 8k, maybe more, but you would probably benefit more from shifting before 8k, than reving it out. You will see once you dyno it.

Either fuel map should be ok, enthalpy's ignition map is really good for people with a pfc on a stock t25. The fuel map is kind of pointless because you will be modifying it anyways.
