Heat shielding material?
Looking at different materials to use for heat shielding, just around some stuff on the fire wall, mostly some wiring. Some of the stuff is pretty expensive, well not the price per foot, but most of the places you have to buy a whole roll. I found this double sided aluminum bubble material that is pretty cheap and I was just wondering if anyone has used this in the engine bay before, if so how did it hold up? Here is a pic of what I'm talking about:

I would think the air would cause an issue because it is a sealed pocket of air+the heat it is supposed to be shielding.
That and that stuff is pretty thin, but i suppose every lil bit helps.

Yeah the stuff Enjuku Racing runs in their cars.
They have it wrapped on the firewalls and some of the under tunnel. It looks cool but def. would cost nice dough. JEGS or Summit probably carries some decent stuff I am sure. |

I used some foil backed fiberglass wrap - similar to fire sleeve for hoses that was pretty cheap from Summit. Put it around my brake lines that run over by the exhaust(especially the driver's side brake line before it goes through the strut tower). It holds up pretty well since it never gets that hot. I just safety wired it around stuff.

This is what im running. Works awesome, you can definately tell there is a huge temp difference. You just gotta let it burn off so you dont smoke yourself out when its freshly installed.
![]() http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku Comes with ties and clips. Its enough to wrap your exhaust mani, turbo dp, brake mast, powersteer reservoir, etc . . . |
