any eibachs, but really lowering doesn't do jack, there's no point, it's already really low.

well you can't see much of a visual difference in lowering, if that's what you're going for(honda freaks) i would just as soon not lower it, it willl end up causing more problems. my friend had a beautiful grand am with $1500 suspension, it was lowered like a bitch...anyways, he was driving around and went into a dip at 40mph, and his whole front end was smashed in..radiator was at the windshield. if his car wasn't lowered it wouldn't have done the same thing. i hit a dip one time too in a neighborhood at 35, and if i would have been lowered 15mm or so, then i might not be talking right now in this forum. i wouldn't have my 240. the sad thing about my friend's story though, is that he went out and wasted 15000 on a practically new civic, and has totally riced it out. he could have done everything i possibly want to do to my 240 with that much cash.

KGMM springs are really nice. See the last pic in my signature? Those are the KGMM springs I have on my car, and they're really nice... i mean in stiffness that is. It lowered the car a little bit too, but it's not like a super super low drop or anything like that -- just low enough to take away some of my wheel gap.

Do you and your friend live in the frikkin' Outback or something? The roads aren't that bad around here...and I live in B.F.E., Mississippi!
But anyway...as with any performance upgrade, you have to compromise a little. Springs reduce body roll both by lowering the center of gravity of the car and by the use of stiffer spring rates. The 240, with its McPherson strut front suspension, can't be lowered too much, but 1-1.5" with semi-stiff progressive springs and possibly up to 2" with stiff linear springs is both do-able and noticeable...both visually and through improved performance; but also through harsher ride and the requirement for more precaution on bumpy surfaces, crossing speed bumps, and approaching Grand Am-swallowing irregularities in the road surface.

Yeah, we need more information here. If you're lowering it for looks alone. . . Go buy a Neon and cut off a coil or two For performance, I am using Tokico springs. Dunrecall the exact spring rate, but it's roughly 50% stiffer than stock. Much less body roll in corners, hardly notice crouch and dive. The ride is awesome. Drawback (as with any performance suspension setup) is a harsher ride if you don't have the best roads.

You will need stiffer shocks to fully utilize new springs, underdampened cars bounce very badly, and put a fair deal of extra strain on your shocks. I have Tokico Blues, and they work great. Feels just slightly underdampened on really rough roads, but it's beautiful when things are smooth. KYB AGX is another shock to consider, adjustible one you can set stiffer depending on your taste and springs.

As far as lowering goes, I am exactly one inch lower than stock on the Tokico springs. The car seems to sit with a bit better looking stance, and I haven't needed to adjust the camber (it's just barely negative in the rear, unnoticable up front).

For safety in dips and bumps, it's not an issue if your springs are right. Granted, my car is a bit lower, the stiffness in the springs makes up for it (not as much travel). If you cut two coils off of your springs, then you will be asking for trouble, but with any honest to god upgrade, it's not so much an issue. Now that that's said, we need to know what exactly you're looking for out of this setup

Edit: Opera sux at the standards, and no, I'm not giving any cliff notes

Yeah Ive got sprints on my car and theyre great. Good ride, great handling. Theyre a 2" drop, not too low and not too high. I love em! I was origionally gonna go with eibachs but was told that threyre really stiff, not sure of this is true, but whatever, im happy with what i got

Actually I think the Eibachs aren't stiff enough...I just installed some KGM S21 SS with linear 258lb./in. front and 213lb./in. rear rates. Close to a 2" drop. It's been raining since the install so I haven't really tried them out...but there's an autoX next weekend; and from what I've felt from moderate driving, I don't think I'll be disappointed. I'll give a full review of them (as well as all the new whiteline bushings) after the autoX.

Well, I gave you the spring rates. I'll try to get around to taking a pic some time or another, but I don't have a digi-cam so don't expect it any time soon. However, I do have before and after (Eibach vs. KGM) ground-to-fender-lip heights...as well as stock height per the FSM.
Stock (FSM):
front--27.32"
rear--26.38"
Eibach ProKit:
front r/l--26"/25.75"
rear r/l--25"/25.125"
KGM S21 SuperSports
front r/l--25.125"/25"
rear r/l--25"/25"
As you can see, it's over a 2" drop from stock in the front. My biggest concern is compression travel, but I haven't hit the bump stops yet form just hitting bumps...so maybe the rates are enough to keep it from traveling more than the 1" of travel I have left. They're on KYB AGX's and the springs were so short they didn't even need to be compressed to put them on.

first of all what kinda car? yr?

IMO the spring drop shouldnt be more than 2" on a 240sx

i a 1.8-2.0 drop and i dont bottom out my front bumper
lower usually means less body roll
just make sure u get a decent spring rating
get stiff to not as stiff depending on your needs

You talkin' about my car? it's in my sig.
And I'd say the KGM's are absolutely the lowest you can go w/o going to short stroke struts. A softer progressive spring with this drop most likely would've already introduced me to the bump stops by now. The spring rates are a good deal stiffer than the other springs out there (sans full coilovers)...they're also linear. But like I said, I'm not gonna tout the greatness of this setup until I test it's limits at the next autoX.

(Oh, and I think the reason the rear isn't any lower than the Eibachs according to my measurements is b/c I measured the Eibachs with half a tank of gas and the KGM's with an almost empty tank. The KGM's are probably about 1/4" lower in the rear than the Eibachs.)

with the kyb's, is the ride bouncy....i absolutely cannot stand that and im sure its not beneficial to handling all the rice boys who get the skunk2 coilovers and buy struts seem to have reeeal bouncy rides....Is this true iwth your setup?

1) i'm shopping for short stroke dampers, but i'm not exactly sure where to look/what to look for... looking at tokico blues and AGX, but i'm not entirely sure if they artually are shortened or not
2) where did you find the KGMM springs? - they seem to virtually not exist

btw, S14 - mostly street/hwy driving, with occasional weekend autoX - tanabe or KGMM drop coils (preference is given to KGMM if i can find em)

danke

They can probably hook you up with some short stroke dampers, too.

The ride is definitely stiff, but it isn't bouncy at all. The AGX's damping is plenty adequate for the spring rates. There are many IT race cars running 300+ lb/in spring rates with coilover sleeves on AGX's.
BTW AGX's aren't short stroke. The only ones I know of have to be imported from Japan and I think they're made by KGMM, too.
