Can leather seats be painted? I might be swapping to white ones soon but I have a red S14 with a black/gray interior. I'd like to make the seats black and red if possible. If they can be painted, do I just spray something on or what would I have to do? Someone told me the leather would have to be taken apart and dyed. O_o

You might be better off selling them and buying some of those red/black obx seats.

I'm gonna second the re-upholstering idea. Much better than just painting them.

OBX seats suck ass. The only racing seats I'd consider is Sparco, Recaro, and Bride.

Anyway, yea, I'd say reholster the leather to the color you want. Or if an upholstry shop has the facilities to do so, you can tell them to take all your leather and dye it white.

no do not use vinyl spray paint. it sucks!

call detail shops or hot rod shops and ask if they have vinal leather DYE

its more money but cheaper and better than reupholstering your seats or gettin g new ones.

i've used it...it works nice...i think they are the only people who make leather dye for heavy duty use like car seats.....much cheaper then new blah blah.

Hm, I think I might have been a bit unclear. I have cloth seats right now, and someone offered to swap his white leather seats for my cloth ones for $50. That's why I'm asking if white leather seats can be painted to another color. I don't really want to spend hundreds on re-upholstery.

that's why they said that it would be better to DYE them. check out wherezmytofu's link.

If I were you, I would get the seats recovered in black leather, and have a wicked "NISMO" embroidered into the headrest, with the letters being white and the "O" in a solid red. But thats just my 2 cents.

resprayed seats are ugly as ####. get some s14 seats if you have an s13. otherwise if youre going to be cheap get some corbeau seats. sparco recaro and bride are if you wanna go all out. i've recently seen blitz seats, too, which look pretty good for the price

I saw an East Bear seat for sale on the classifieds of 240sx.org for $500. Those look sorta icky. Blah, I'd rather buy a Recaro SRD for a little more money. If you think Corbeau is cheap, now...Tenzo-R is CHEAP! I wouldn't want a big ass "Tenzo-R" logo on anything I'd have, that'd look sad. =/

yes there are cheaper alternatives, but for $325 you can get a seat from corbeau with all the quality and looks of an SRD or torino, just without the brand name. corbeau is still pretty respectable though

Give it the Krylon touch!!! haha

Yeah. . don't paint the seats. . you'll wind up with a white and red ass next summer. .

Also, since most of the "leather" is actually vinyl, it might be tough to get that stuff to absord any kinda color. . (only leather on most leather seats is the surface)
