Well last night on my usual routine drive back home I stopped and filled up with gas and about 3 miles down the road I noticed my fuel gauge dropped from FULL all the way down to E, and then down way below E as far as it could go. For the next few miles it would come back up to about halfway full and then drop all the way down below the E again and then it quit working at all and is just stuck below E...what is going on?? By the way, I've got a 96 240sx...

The fuel pump has a few electrical connections. I think one of them is for the fuel gauge indicator. I accidentally cut it once and the fuel gauge would always show empty. Maybe you have some sort of short circuit there or the wire is not firmly stuck or something.
