I'm usually against swaps like that, but the more I learn about them the cooler I think it is.

i'm very interested too. i hope it's real. if so, i'll be looking for a 302 or a 350/6 speed from a 93+ camaro. and it wouldn't bother me if 155 horsepower engine owners would shun me

How much more does this kind of engine weight? That is the only thing that i see that could be really wrong with this swap! Does anyone know what the smallest usdm V8 engine was in? I am hopeing they made something like a 3-4L V8...That way i could make a high revving machine with the smoothest powerband

Buick made a 3.5L V8 in the early '60s. They ended up selling the tooling to Rover.

It's not much of a performance motor though. If you're concerned about weight the Ford 302 is really the way to go. Keep in mind the 302 has a much shorter stroke than even an SR (it's only 76mm). Its revs are limited by the valvetrain, not the piston speeds. There's a huge aftermarket for it, too.

This website talks about swaping usdm engines in smaller cars it has the dimensions of the 302 and it's weight.

I also found out that Don Nimi weighed the Ka it came to 309 Ibs

The 302's weight varies from 424 Ibs to 519 Ibs

IIRC don weighed his engine w/out anything attached to it right?

Yes, Don weighed the engine w/out anything attached to it. The swap should make the front end heavier but I don't know by how much.

Seems like you would need a bigger radiator too. Is the one in the photo the stock S13 radiator? The photo makes it look like the engine and the (stock?) radiator are already pretty close.
Also, what about a Ford 289 V8? It might weigh less.

The 289 block is the same family as the 302,and the 347 is just a stroked 302, so they wouldnt weight any different.

for like 1000 dollars you can put a small Psi super charger on a 302. that what got me, all i want out of my car is to make pretty sounds and go fast.
