i used a search...needed something simple answered that search couldnt help me out with...

just wanted to know... if a T3 would be good enough to reach my 280-300 hp goals...
and if it is possible to run a little tiny bit faster than a 13 sec 1/4 time with a T3 <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/blush.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':blush:'>

Breaking any car into 12 seconds is hard, wether it is a GST, ITR, 240sx, or a civic. &nbsp;A t3 is used on the older 300zx's, and only produce 220hp at 7psi. &nbsp;Then the turbo will die off at 14psi (for that engine/turbo combo.) &nbsp;A t3 may get you at the right horsepower, but as far as speed, there is a lot of work to do. &nbsp;PSI240sx has 390rwhp, and ran a 12.5 in the 1/4. &nbsp;

This guy, built KA on a T3 ran a 13 flat. This was on crappy 6.5" street tires. Some drag radials and he woulda been in the 12's. Forget what he said his hp was though.

i mean im not looking for a straight up drag car.... but will a t3 be good enough to push the 2.4 litre motor?
this is also gonna be daily driven...
and since the 300zx's were six's a t3 would do better on a inline 4 wouldnt it?
what PSI's are t3 good up to..?
when will it spool and will it keep spooling until redline?
im kinda on a budget so ill have to do with the t3 for now...

hey PSI240sx, what turbo are you running? can you give any feed back on running a T3?

Jay's running a Garrett T3/T04E.
As far as the a t3...I think they are usually out of efficency range at about 14 psi. &nbsp;The t3 would perform better on an inline four as opposed to the v6 on the 300zx's. &nbsp;As far as spool times, it depends mostly on the exhaust housing. &nbsp;The larger the A/R the more CFM it will flow, and the more lag it will have. &nbsp;T3's have all different types of customizeable exhaust housings. &nbsp;How much boost are you planning on running?

I thought that I answered most of these 2nd questions. &nbsp;Usually crap out at 14 psi. &nbsp;If it was on the 3.0L motor in the 300zx, it will work on a 2.4L motor, and spool much faster, becuse you have nearly 1L more exhaust gases in the 4-cyl.
Yes, the housings are interchangeable, as are the turbine wheels, but once you start buying 2 housing ($300) and a couple wheels ($500).. well. &nbsp;That's friggin expensive. &nbsp;PSI240sx doesn't usually post here. &nbsp;

ok so your telling me that i cant push the turbo more than 14 psi???

i didnt plan on running more than 12 or 13 psi...

You can go beyond 14psi, but it's pretty much out of efficency range. If you are gonna go higher than 14, I would suggest upgrading to a t3/t04. I'll run some numbers on the t3 at 12psi, but can't gurantee anything.

Edit: What's the exhuast housing size on your t3?

This seems like a good time to ask my question on T3s. Jeff mentioned that the T3s are pretty interchangable, so my question is, If I found a T4 and pulled the compressor housing off of it, could I strap it on my T3 and have a t3/t4 that way? To be honest I have only seen one t4 and didnt get a chance to look at it very well but figured that I could do that swap. Am I right?

you could do it that way technically but then you would need to get blades that fit the compressor... and you wanna make sure the trims are right....
i think thats all... but im pretty sure theres a little more to it that jeff can clarify...

Back to post stealing. &nbsp;I haven't done that, but I know it is entirely possible. &nbsp;It would be a lot of figuring it out yourself. &nbsp;You would need to match the blades correctly, and the housing correctly. &nbsp;But yea. &nbsp;It happens. &nbsp;And to find t4's, look in Diesel (sp) trucks for them. &nbsp;They will have huge exhaust sides, but probably a usable intake housing.

Well my question acctually arose from The page that jeff posted. You can by new blade wheels and compressors for about 120 a peice. Seems like a damn easy way to go t3/t4. I think thats what Im gonna do after I get the rest of my stuff.... Almost there too...
