808 guys seems to have organized events the most frequently.... here in the pacNW there will be the first official one in Bremerton, WA beginning of dec.

Other than that, do it in an empty lot with no one around and lots of cones to practice/destroy with your car. Be safe (don't be an idiot and try it with stock suspension).

The race track!
Honestly, I don't think I'd dare try it anywhere else.
Too many popos and too much risk for me!

Yeah, big parking lots are nice.

If you are on a parking lot, can a cop do anything about it? You are on private property so technically you don't even need a driver's liscence if you didn't want right?

I live on a dead end street and when comming in you are kinda on a downward slope to flat ground, i just come in around 40-50mph and i always catch a nice 4wheel drift.

that and when leaving my school there is about a 1/8th mile strip and a nice BIG turn that is PERFECT for drifting. Those are the only two places I like to drift.

Course If you find a nice open area you cant turn down the car when its calling your name and begging for a drift

if you don't know how to drift and lack an LSD, you'll most likely understeer or spin your inside rear tire a lot. otherwise, stock suspension delaying weight transfer could make it easier to pull off a drift.

Yes, we have a drift event every month. This coming december we have another one which will be running the short course so we get to drift almost the entire track.

We'll have to wait and see what happens next season when the schedules change though.

But other than the track, some people just find an open lot or something.

stock suspension and no LSD will in most instances behave like Ace said. You'll also not be able to hold a drift for any decent amount of time, and when you do throw the tail out enough to get around a corner, expect to spin out... stock coils/struts will also give you lots of body roll and joyous snap oversteer. It's just plain dangerous becuase it makes it very hard to predict how hard the car is going to throw over.

Bottom line: It's not safe. It's not predictable. It's REALLY bad for your poor TC rods

Drifting requires the stiffest suspension possible, generally speaking. I have KYB SAGX's and ground control coilovers. It's still way too soft, but better than stock by far.
