s13 sr in s14 TEMPERATURE SENSOR QUESTION

MODS LOCK/DELETE!

well i read that you are supposed to use the s14 temp sensor even thought its an s13 sr so i went and bought one from autozone, but now the problem is, the plug wont go in to the temp sensor. it has two prongs but the shape of the sensor is SLIGHTLY different shaped. so what do i do now? do i man handle it and force it in? or am i supposed to use the s14 sr one? help thanks

facts:
97 s14
blacktop s13 sr
using sr harness and ka lower harness

READ LAST POST:
well i double checked my wiring and it is RIGHT! temp is yellow to blue/black and tach is red/yellow to red/yellow. and i double checked to make sure cluster was plugged in all the way. and my temp gauge still shoots up and my tach doesnt work =( i checked every single fuse and nothing is blown. please helP!

I belive ur supose to get a temp senor for a 91 to 94. If you got a s13,
or u can just by pass and get a guage that will be more accurate.

Incorrect. Use the single prong gauge sender from an S14, not the two prong ECU sender. Two completely different things. The two prong sender matches the ECU, not the cluster.

The single prong sender is only if you want to keep your OE temp gauge, otherwise you don't even need it.

Single prong - gauge
Dual prong - ECU

ECU sender matches the ECU, gauge sender matches the cluster.

They either keep giving you the wrong shit or theyre just a bunch of dumbasses. Go to the dealer and get the sensor (less than $30) or if you have the sensor from your old KA, swap that over to the SR.

But like what Russ already stated, the stock gauge sucks, go invest on a real water temp gauge that will tell you your cars getting hot and overheated already...

take your cluster off and inspect the traces on the back. If you can try another cluster to verify its not your cluster.
