s14 rear strut, spring problemo

im trying to put some lowering springs on my car. i got the front ones on, but when i took the assembly from the rear, the retaining nut on the camber plate or whatever will not come loose. it only spins the piston on the shock. i have tried to break it loose with the spring compressors on and off, what the ef? btw new shocks for these cars are expensive

the top of the shaft has flat spots beneath the nut to put a wrench on to counter the moment while you loosen the nut on top of the strut. Are you using an impact gun?

Shocks/struts aren't too bad. I got 4 KYB-AGXs for like $500 shipped from Tire Rack. You have to pay to play.
