In winter, we wear winter shoes:

putting your car in the garage is like staying in your room on a bright saturday

Ah, sometimes I miss real winters. I used to live in upstate NY. I'd get rid of my GTI, get an old Impreza L 2.2, throw on a rack of driving lights rally-style and get a set of Nokians or other trick snow tires. Then go drift around the snowplows.

i'm pretty impressed how the 240 handles in light snow so far - we only have about an inch on the ground but it's COLD so there's still stuff on the road and ice and whatnot. i've got spsport5000's and still have to try to get it to break loose. i'm sure when there's 6"+ on the road in 2 weeks i'll be crying like a little girl, but right now it's ok.

Pacemark High Traction tires look like truck tires... only rated up to 100mph though

With an inch of snow on the ground it's controlled powerslides all day long. Too bad it's all cleared away for now... but there's supposed to be more snow later this week Yeah, I guess I'm just another wannabe curb humper during the holiday season....

hahah, that's so awesome. I drove out in the snow last night for the first time in the 240. We had about maybe a quarter inch. I was actually surprised at how well it handled. I also found out that it does awesome donuts. Every consumer report I have read complains about horrible wet and snow traffic. I just don't think those people can handle rwd in the snow. But then again, we only had about a quarter inch..whatever, I guess I'll wait to we get more snow.

I drove my car with "snow" tires on the rear all last winter. The tires weren't that great, but had more aggressive tread then most. I onyl got stuck twice. once on ice, an lsd would have come in handy. The tire just spun. The other in about 6 inches of snow on an unpaved, unplowed two track that I was trying to follow some truck tracks. Both times I was able to get out myself, but had to do the put it in gear and get out and push trick. It works good as long as you can get back in before it hits something. I didn't have weight in the back, but I think I would if I did it again. This winter, I found a '81 caprice to bomb around in, so I don't have to worry about it.
