a front clip is basically the front half of the car, shipped to ur door.  u get the dash, steering wheel, all that shit, forward to the radiator.  usually the only thing it doesnt come with is body panels.

four types of SR20's -
S13 red top
S13 black top
S14
S15
(both the S14 and S15 are black tops)...

the S13 red top came in 91-93 S13 silvias and 180SXs...the S13 black top has a bigger turbo, but no VVT (like the S13 red top), and was in all 180sx's built after 93.  for s13 engines, the red top is 205hp, the black top is 215 hp.

the s14 adds variable valve timing to bring power to 220 hp.  the s15 adds a bigger turbo as well, with 250 hp, and also has a 6-spd manual transmission (that is prone to breaking).

btw, the top refers to the color of the valve cover.

of course the s13 red top is the cheapest, followed by the s13 black top, the s14, and then the s15.

a front clip is the front 1/3 of a car. in Japan they cut the car at the bottom of the A-pillars (windshield) and across the floor where the front seats would be.....they just cut right through everything! when u order a clip u get almost EVERYTHING. no wheels, and most of the sheetmetal is damaged (hood, fenders etc), but everything else is still bolted in place (hopefully!). the advantage is u can see exactly where everything goes as u take it apart. when u buy just an engine and ECU, wiring, etc sometimes its hard to figure out where it all goes when u install in ur car.
