I posted this in the identify this thread but i really need help and dont think it would get the attention i needed sooo,
Im putting my new motor in i cant remember where this wire goes, any ideas, its thicker gauge? I believe there was a plastic circular piece over the threads?

I thought it might go here so i put it there and popped the alternator fuse.

I need HELP!!! Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

what color is the wire, and are there three wires already hooked up?

That's the charging stud but you've pulled it completely out of the alternator. Unless you have it repaired/rebuilt you're going to short it to ground if you put it back in without the insulator.

how do i go about getting it back in, repairing it? can i buy a kit or what do i do

bump for same problem. does anyone have a pic with the insulator installed? i keep poping the 75A fuse whenever i connect that wire, and i don't believe i have the insulator anymore.

It's just a plastic washer to keeps the charging lead from touching the case.
