SR Sr idle

I got a question for months i've been trying out different things to figure out why my idea on my sr is 1500 and sometimes it will drop down to 900-1000 but usually when i come to a complete stop and it idles at 1500. I've store my car now and i doing all the test over and nothing still to be the answer to my problem. I set my timing and check the spark plug i tried loosing and tighting the trottle postions now of those seems to work. I mean the idle is smooth and everything but its high. Thanks if you can help

i cant answer but my SR does the same thing, for seemingly no reason sometimes it will idle at 1100, and most of the time at 800, its always smooth though so i dont worry about it

There is a screw between the 3rd and 4th intake runners that adjusts the idle. Turn it clock wise AFTER YOUR CAR HAS WARMED UP to drop the idle back down to a suitable level. Your SR should idle at 750 when warm.

high idle can be caused by many things, but mostly caused by extra air enter pass the throttle plate.
by tring to adjust the idle screw can help, but you mentioned that it idles at 900-1000 sometimes and 1500 sometimes.
There is a possibility that the throttle plate/throttle cable is stuck.
Or the accelerate warm up component/enrichment is not functioning properly.

My SR idles very low & bounces from 500-650-700 most of the time staying btwn 500-650. I was told I had cams from the person i brought my motor from. Therefore i can understand the bouncing, but would that make my car idle as low as 500. I also need to check my timing. Does anyone know timing specs off hand and what i should set it at.

500 is too low. even 650 doesn't seem right.
by installing a pair of higher lift/duration after-market cams, the idle would have to be set higher to eliminate the rough overlap.
Also, when using the rough cams, the idle should bounce with a steady beat... not varying like you described.
As for the timing, you are you needing the ignition timing or you want cam degree timing? set them to stock spec first and see how it runs.

How about both ignition and cam degree specs...hopefully that should do the trick...thanx...that should be helpful

on my stand alone engine management, by advancing the timing at idle; the idle rpm will raise. On the other hand, by lowering the timing, the idle speed will drop too, until the motor stalls.

if timing is right, and throttle position is right also.

may be you should check the very basic: idle adjustment screw~

since vacuum leak is very unlikely on the SR, the mass air flow meter will act wierd.
