Ditto for me. I'm finally ready to buy one, but unfortunately it's not under the best circumstances. My transmission just went . At any rate though, i'll finally have that CA18

Afterdark-tuning

The site is under construction, but they come extremely highly recomended from everyone over at the NICO boards.

I would also check heavythrottle and phase2 depending on your locations.

None of these are the cheapest but in my research for my sr20det, they have proven to be the best by far. You get what you pay for.

By the way, I'm new here. Nice place!

Do you know anyone that has gotten the installation package from afterdark tuning, cuz this is the first I heard of it, and looks like a good deal, especially since I am lazy and don't have the right tools to install the engine myself.

$3450 and your out with a CA18 powered car sounds like a hreat deal. Anyone know how long they take, I would be will to drive out there.

Personally, that seems like a hefty price tag for a CA18

Hmmm...

I don't know if they are a reputable source, but I called around for a CA last week for an upcoming project and venus-auto.com had a front clip for 1200 (no panels)

The problem is where is venus-auto, i think its in cali, and if it is, that is far from me, and i'd have to pay shipping. I would rather find a place close that i can get the the engine and possibly have installed by.

If SOKO (less than an hour away from me) has any CAs then I will get it from them, I am looking for a front clip.

Keep in mind the $3450 includes an Apexi' exhaust, downpipe, fuelpump and whatever else is necessary, and it takes 1-2 days for the install. Plus most likey I will get LSD at the same time, and they can get that for me too.

But when the time comes I will make my decision, I still got another years wait, who knows, i might just make the 240 a daily driver and pursue my 240Z dreams.

I ordered from Venus-Auto. He has my CA front clip but was just taking it out of the shipment today. Soon it will be shipped. I think he has a total of 5 clips coming in but they might all be reserved. I reserved mine with a $500 deposit. I thought it was a great deal and my engine is dead, so I went for it. I'll let everyone knows how it is when I get it.

Later,

Apparently venus has been going through CA clips like crazy. I just called up today and they said the shipment that got in today was reserved, but the price is around 1,500 now.

Afterdark tuning is where I am getting my sr.

They do price higher than venus auto, but they do not import junk yard front ends like venus auto. They price higher because they offer a guarantee that their products will be exelent quality. I have spoken to Adam there frequently and he is by far the most knowlegable person in this feild I have ever met. I highly recomend him as a person to consult with questions even if you do not buy from him. He also happens to be the only person I know of that is putting an rb26dett into a 240sx. Not just talking, doing.

I know their web site is down, but because they are in the middle of the country they are good to ship anywhere in the US for cheap, and I just like them. That is my two cents. Want it from the horses mouth? NICO forums is where he Adam much of the time under the name Daunttless, he is a moderator there.

I have been told that they do their installs in 2-4 days. Do not quote me on that. Talk to adam, he will set you up.

Other than Afterdark I would suggest these:heavy throttle if you are on the east coast.
unstable hybrids if you are in the south.
phase2 or /neishlin motors if you live on the west coast.

I know many people who recomend those as well. In my opinion if you are doing it yourself, any of these are good. If you want it done, go with Afterdark. I would not recomend buying off of ebay, I know three people who have been robbed there and not recovered all their money back, not to mention missing part headaches and what not.

Hope that helps anyone who cares...

You live in the windy city huh?

It is nice to see that not every one is in SoCal here.

Adam is an honest guy, worth looking at em at least 'yaknow?

Why a CA18? So many people consider that but then just turbo their KA. Or go with the SR.

see, the problem with heavy throttle, is that they don't have any CA engines, they only show SR's Anyone know if they'll import a CA?

You basically answered your own question. I want a CA18 because everyone else turbos thier KA or gets an SR. There are a few SRs around chicago, and a few KA-Ts, but I have yet to hear of a CA, so it's always nice to be the first.

i'm starting to worry that the CA is gonna be the new SR on a bunch of different boards, more and more people are coming to the CA now. I'll have mine in a couple weeks though so I guess I shouldn't care what other people do.(sorry, i'm rambling on here).
