Help a Brotha out with his CEL Problem.

I have a 96 240sx it was converted to 5 speed. Check engine light for neutral position switch and knock sensor. My question is if I get the 96 manual ecu for it and a new knock sensor the check engine light will go away right?

any input would be nice, since smog time is coming soon for me.

Have you tried to reset the standard ecu 1st? If theres a fault with the knock sensor its going to come back no matter what ECU.. But it could be a false so a reset will clear the ECU.

or if you know anybody with the nissan software and OBD cable they can bring up the errors on there and clean them also

Wrong section boss.

Check your engine.

But if you fix the sensor problem and get a manual ECU I think you should be good.

I tried the little questions thread a few times but got no answers or reply from there. So i thought id make a thread. and who knows maybe someone else would like this info as well.

I think it would go away as well if i get the ecu and the sensor but i still want to make sure before i spend the money to get an ECU.

the knock sensor is very picky. Is it the code that says it sensed knock or the "theres a short in the knock sensor" cause usually when the plug vibrates in a wierd way it will send that code.
