single slammer starts up rough

In the morning my car starts up fine, goes right up to 2k, then lowers down to about 900rpms..
but when i drive somewhere close, and the engine is somewhat warm, and i turn it off for about 20 minutes then start it back up, it kind of stumbles for a couple seconds, sounding like its about to die.. but it only last for like 1 second, then it goes to normal...
could it be my timing? it doesn't backfire or anything
i might buy a new dist cap.. i wonder if thats it...? hmmm

If it only lasts a second, I wouldn't even worry about it.

is the coolant temp sensor the sensor with the yellow plug on top of the intake manifold? the plastic thing...?

because it just got worse, enstead of it lasting 1 second, the car almost dies every time now, but then after 3 seconds of so it will idle fine
