How about...
How About A V12-Powered Datsun 240Z?
![]() We'll admit that it may well be impossible to top the Austin-Healey 100 with supercharged Jaguar V12 in the Insane Sports Car Engine Swap department, but we still think putting a Jaguar V12 in this Z was a fine idea. The seller doesn't provide a lot of info about it (we'd like to know more than just "chev 6 speed") but it looks like the swap was done with a minimum of duct tape. And all for just $9,000 Canadian! No headlights where headlights should be: fail.
Jag V12: fail. Opel GT-esque tail lights: fail. Call me old-fashioned, but all the car needs is custom mechanical fuel injection and some BRE four-spokes. Oh, and it's gotta be on the ground. |

the only thing I don't like is the headlights. s30's have some of the sexiest headlights, and the owner/builder/whatever fucked it up.
Besides that... The Jag v12 is an ok engine, but its... not exactly a powerful v12.

pics dont work, but i hate the guys who put stupid motors in Z's just for the hell of it. like all the guys that put shitty junkyard sbc's in em or that shitty jag stuff, or the guys who cut the roofs off and make em into roadsters trying to make it into a jag or a ferrari.

that ebay link is interesting. there was an abandoned lot in riverside that had a few zs in a field like that, and even a datsun roadster burried in teh dirt, and some vert Zs etc.. there was a decent looking black 240z though, i left a note on it and a few weeks later the guy called me, he wanted over $2k for that black Z.. i thought it was rediculous its probably been sitting there for a few years as all the other cars.. that was 2 years ago, i dont see all of them there anymore. If i had a Z, id love to have a field day in there lol

i dont mind v8's that are nicely done, but the dudes who go pull a shitty 200hp v8 out of an old sedan at the jyard and throw it in a Z and throw some 18x7 sportmaxx on it and paint it bright orange with some gay ass racing stripe....

16k is real fuckin steep. maybe 4000 for sr and parts installed, ~1500 for coils, 800 for brakes 800 for wheels and tires, just go high and say 900 for other bullshit and 2500 for a decent shell. thats 10,500 invested and he expects 5k more? people need to learn to man up and expect and take their losses and not jack up the price for "labor". i'd maybe see it go for 8500 on the high side.
