This is a more basic question but I was wondering if any of you had this happen before, if so how did you remedy it?

Basically the insulation (rubber tip on the end of the spark plug wires ) fell off and into my valve cover.

I have a daily driver so I haven't really been adamant about fixing it.

But anyways the insulation fell off and was pushed down due to the wires needing a good solid connection. I can't change my spark plugs because the insulation covers the bolt top part of the plug, is there any way I can take the insulation off without removing my valve cover?

The holes are too deep for my fingers and coat hangers seem kinda dangerous...

Coat hanger is fine, or a long screwdriver, pick, or anything. Odds are it will just tear into smaller pieces so you'll need to do a lot of picking, then blow it out with compressed air. It's pretty common on janky wires or just really old ones.

These wires are probably about 2 years old or so so its kinda hard to tear them apart.

I'm getting a lot of breaking up when I'm boosting up, and I think I need my plugs replaced thats the only reason I'm really trying to do this.

Invest in a set of dental picks - you can pick em up at Home Depot for a higher quality set or at AutoZone for the cheaper ones. Believe me, after you start doing a couple of engine / body builds, you will use them a lot.

that thing happened to me last summer...

didn't know wtf i was going to do...i even took the car to a mechanic to have them take it out, but when they told me how much it was, i said f u (not really)

what i ended up doing is buying a pick from napa..looked like one of those things you screw on the wall with a hook...took 7 dollars and 2 mins!

or....
a skinny kitchen knife that you don't care about
[one that fits down the spark plug hole]
bend the tip to make a hook.
if you are skilled, you can bend it back and its as if nothing ever happened.

its free.

There are pliers long/skinny enough to get down into the spark plug hole...I think you can find them at autozone.

I'm a bit confused on what your speaking of

the metal part or just the dustboot rubber tip?

this happened to me once. used needle noes pliers to grab it out

Insulator = rubber or a non-conductant

Conductor = metal or an object that conducts electricity.

This happened to me not too long ago, I used a coat hanger, Scott. I cut one end of the hanger at an angle so it was a little sharp, and bent it into a hook, then just punctured the rubber and pulled it out.

I tried to use needle noses but there wasn't enough room to do anything.
