The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals removed three kittens and a cat from a home outside Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.

"This is a first. It's unbelievable anybody would do this to kittens," animal protection officer Carol Morrison told the local Times Leader newspaper.

They were tipped off after a listing appeared on a website under the title "pure black, tailless, pierced, gothic kitten".

One of the defenceless creatures, named Snarley Monster, is shockingly described as "a three-month-old, floppy-eared, loveable kitten with a docked tail" in the advert.

The animal is pictured on the site with two 14-gauge ear piercings and a "submission ring" through the back of its neck.

The owner asked for offers over $400 for the kitten, the jewellery and a silk submission lead to clip onto the neck ring.

Ms Morrison said the kittens would be checked over by a vet before a decision is made on whether they will be placed in new homes.

The woman, who had a pet grooming business in the basement of her home, is expected to face charges.

Go to your local slaughterhouse and see how pigs are treated, which are way more intelligent than cats or dogs by the way.

This is horrible, but nothing new, people are dumb.

it's just fucked up. but the thing is that we are more inclined to feel sorry for an animal that has been made into more of pet animal than a food animal. it's called a cuteness factor..lol. but it's pretty true. like i think it's pretty jacked up when people do stuff like that to cats and dogs, but i can't really say anything because i used to get my meat from the farm butchery. you know the farms where they raise the animals, then slaughter, and sell you the meat. that is a messed up sight.

at least put some plastic barbells in there so the cat can still use its ears properly.

i'm sure that cat is in no pain or anything, not a huge deal

but doing that to them just to sell them is stupid.

its ok i hate cats anyway. if my parents werent so in love with ours i would probably shoot them or something..

yeah kittens=cool cats=satan in the world but that's plain animal cruelty i know they MIGHT not be in pain NOW but it doesn't mean we have the right to make them have to take the initial pain and hell i would forget the EAR piercings if they put small earrings (something that doesnt bother or weight on the ears) cause its a normal thing (Even if i would NEVER do it cause i don't think its right) since it really doesnt hurt but THE NECK THING! that IS CRUELTY!! it DOES hurt and it shouldnt be made to animals it's just wrong!

people are just really dumb, people don't respect food like they should! meaning that something DIED so you could live, and people just think we RULE over other animals that we have as PETS, pets are just companions... you should see how i treat my rabbit she lives like a queen hahaha and all my friends love her...

she should be taken away from pets, charges bullshit just don't let her have anymore pets...

actually...no, it probably didn't. Have you never seen how mother cats pick up their young? from the scruff of their neck, with their teeth. It has nerves, but not nearly as much as the rest of the cat, excluding ears.

Not saying that this is at all acceptable, though
