so ive been wanting to buy a s14 with sr20 but since in CA its illegal
why dont they make ka24de valve covers for the sr20?

also would this work? eBay Motors: 1995-1998 NISSAN 240SX S14 OEM KA24DE VALVE COVER ASSY (item 200267179497 end time Dec-22-08 23:44:32 PST)

its a bad idea because its stupid first off

second... because im pretty sure that there is not enough clearance at all... he would need to hammer it out a bit first...

... and just because you got a different valve cover doesn't mean it will be passed off as a ka 24... no you have to shove socks in the muffler to quite the nose and to pass the emissions test...

I think it could work the other way.
A SR 'mask' that makes a KA look like an SR. I don't think that would help california people so much.

But the SR valve cover is soooo large. That is why its impossible.

hollow out a ka motor and shove the sr in there so the whole thing looks stock.

it doesnt matter what your valve cover looks like i doubt a cop is gonna say:

"Oh he almost fooled me! That valve cover threw me off but then i looked at the pulleys and im almost certain its an sr."

its not the engine block itself that cops can tell its illegal. its the fact that ka Valve cover is un-painted, and sr is red or black. its the fact most people run front mounts and the the intercooler pipes are crome/silver. a BOV is sitting right on top of a hot pipe connected to a TURBO and 90% of the time they have an aftermarket air filter. the only way to make an sr look legal is if you have a 100% stock looking sr with maybe a blacktop valve cover. oem air filter box for sure. maybe paint the itnercooler and intercooler piping.

how about don't run the valley cover? That's the only thing up there that says anything different. They're both "Twin cam 16 valves"

OOOOHH or make a center cover that says "KA24DE" down the middle! That'll fool 'em!

Your not going to trick anyone that knows anything about cars into thinking a motor is another by modding a valve cover to fit another motor

Dont they put your cars on the emissions machine there? If so a valve cover wont help you at all. Sniff test will kill you everytime.

If you are wanting to break the law and run a SR in a state where its not legal - then just find someone that can be paid to pass your car!

Would be alot cheaper then trying to mod a valve cover to fit another motor and still failing!
