Turbo failure on a TD05

Basically, on the drive to NJ (where I sold my old S14 head to Asad for "scientific purposes") the nut on the turbine shaft came off. I'm guessing an oiling problem led to the bearings wearing, which lead to the comp wheel hitting the housing and screwing the nut off.
As you can see, the comp wheel is bent and chipped. It's hard to see, but the turbine wheel is SEVERELY worn. Also, the shaft is pretty much screwed. Oil caked onto it from exhaust and oil mixing in the center section I think.

So.... I already installed a replacement turbo (got one off a Starion for $80 in decent condition). Ran it for a little while and checked the oil drain line to see if I was getting oil.... so that hopefully this won't happen again. I'll take pics of the bearings later. They're virtually non-existant at this point as you could imagine.

Interestingly enough, the Starion's TD05-12A fits into the housings of my Volvo TD05-12B with no problems. The only visual difference is that the 12A has staggered fins on the compressor wheel while on the 12B they're all the same height.

I was boosting 6psi today, then the compressor housing blew off from the C-clip not seating right. Damaged the blades a bit at the tips but it's boosting fine and there aren't any noises (thank god... but what luck ). Now I'm boosting 5psi and keeping an ear open. Can't wait to try out a 14B or 16G.
