Idle and startup questions

Okay, so until I have enough money to register my car, I go outside and start the car everyday to keep the fluids running through it and whatnot, but, I have to start it like, 15 to 25 times for it to stay alive and idle correctly. When I try and start it up the first couple times, it will crank and start and then bog and die, check MAF and shit, its good, only thing I can think of is cleaning my IACV, but ive read thats mainly just for bad idling, and mine wont idle at all until about 25 tries of trying to start it. Would cleaning the IACV help this problem?

Also, quick question, clockwise or counterclockwise increase the idle on the Idle Adjustment Screw?

PS: This is on a SOHC

has the car ever run good? how old is the gas? when it does idle, what is the rpm until it warms up? cleaning the iacv would not be the first thing i would think of. clockwise lowers idle.

Gas I just bought idk, 2 days ago. Car has always done this, but its just now becoming anooying. the rpm never stays constant until it warms up. I can't find the screw on the SOHC.

try disconnecting the engine coolant temp sensor. run the car without the air filter for a second to see if that helps. the air regulator is supposed to open and supply extra air when engine is cold. idle should be maybe 500 rpm higher when engine cold because of air regulator. squeeze the hose after it branches off to air regulaot. if it is open, squeezing should lower idle.

this is air regulator on dohc. the sohc has the iacv in a different place so

anyway, air is supplied via the brass tubing and goes to iacv and air regulator.

idle screw is on the iacv
