Lsd ?

Sorry, i know this has been asked many times but I can't find a definitive answer. will the nismo 2 way mechanical LSD work in an open diff? what all is required to install? and would a kaaz be a better option? thanks in advance.

yes it requires the output shafts. you need the FULL Nismo 2 way KIT (has both shafts, new gasket, oil, lSD etc etc etc)

i would personally suggestion KAAZ only because they are in claifornia and very helpful and you'll get GREAT USA support from them if you run into problems.

go Nismo if you have the contacts to get it at a good price and you are ready for any pitfalls you might run across going this route.

also nismo kit side shafts, depending onthe year, will nto mate up w/ usdm shafts. some 180sx are 3 flange, some are 5 flange. get the wrong yera and you need to hit the junkyard for J30 stuff. go kaaz and they can get you every piece of info and what you'll need for the install

www.kaazusa.com

btw, i dont work for kaaz or use a Kaaz. I just bought a Nismo SSS LSD which should be here mid march.

i've heard kaaz lsd's are noisy, is this only when they arent broken in correctly? kaaz will drop right into my open diff pumpkin? and do i need different output shafts for the kaaz as well? btw i've found the kaaz for a little under 1k and the kaaz for a little over 1k good prices? or can i find them for cheaper?

pretty much ALL LSDs will cost you 1000 or so
yes, for kaaz you need the output shafts
i highly suggest calling KAAZ and talking with them so you dont get bad info. i always talk with ray when im there (i get my car teched before track events there) and Ray and his workers can tell you EVERYTHING you need to know

also, email JSpec (www.jspec.com) and ask Sam about the Nismo on their pages and if he can order you one pssible. NIsmo comes w/ FULL KITS (expect to pay 900-1500) have to get quote from Sam.

i would suggest those 2 routes.

do you have a S14 or S13? I saw Keism had a S14 Tomie LSD for sale in classifieds here.

all aftermaket LSDs are noisy. unless its mechanical. my current 2 way is mechanical and its QUIET. but all clutch will be Noisy for sure. some more then others
