cd player problem

iIve been working with cd players for several years now. I am not a novice, but I am about pizzed with my car. First I took out the factory cd player. When I took it out, the cage that was attached to it and the little tray beneath it were screwed together sooo tight. I tried up skrewing it but I kept stripping the screws. I had to destroy the tape deck to get it off. Then when It came to wiring, I keep blowing fuses when I am testing it, but everytime I blow it, I replace the fuse, then check the wire. Everytime it has zero power going through it and it still blows when I touch them together. What group has the power, switch, and ground in it? I tested the group of 5 (the purple, red, pink, green, and light green) and I got zero power going through it. And when I test the 9 group, it doesn't work right. Are there 2 wires that control the antenna?I am so confused and angry.

Hmm... I remember something about the antenna wires from when I did my install, but you definitely only need one of them, and I'm pretty sure it's blue.

The setup is weird, because from what I remember, one group isn't specifically speakers, and one group isn't specifically power.

Each wire with a lighter or stripped match should be a speaker set. IIRC the stripped ones are positive, but I'm not sure anymore.
I can't really check my car because I'm nowhere near it (up at school, car is blown at home). If you can't get it working by then I should be able to post something up to help.

If you're talkin about the two blue wires for antenna one of them is for the antenna, and the other is for a remote to an amp. As for the fuse check for shorts. Look for little cuts in wire insulation and insulation that is rubbed off. If there is a short in the wiring somewhere before where you tested it then you won't get any current. If this doesn't help then could you clarify...lol...I didn't get what you were saying to well from your post.

well, if he's got the factory amps than he might want to take them out if installing a good aftermarket deck. otherwise he'd just have to connect the antenna and amp signal wires to the one antenna wire from the deck.

It's usually a good idea to disconnect the negative cable to the battery.

I found out what happened. I blew the taillight fuse. And I didn't know that ran to the cd player and thats why i couldn't get the ACC wire to work. Yeah, I took out the factory amps and put in 6 1/2 components.

Its a lot easier to drill out those stock screw heads and take the tape deck out that way.. You pretty much can't remove it without stripping the heads, so I just used a drill bit to take the heads off.
You didn't say what you were using, but a digital multimeter will be a terrific aid when you are diagnosing problems with your stereo.
