how do you heal and toe? i know it lets you keep the revs up while your turning (i think)

what toe heel is, it allows u to turn, clutch, brake and gas at the same time...
what is done is u clutch with the left foot, downshifting, and braking into the corner while gasing when u pop off the clutch, there is power (high rev) in the gear
it is hard to explain but i know how to do it.

ohh i kinda told him how... keep practicing...
going into a turn, brake with toe- heel on gas, turn and clutch and downshift, then when ready pop off the clutch

there is many ways to use the toe heel method... some people go on and off the clutch (basicly riding it) to allow the drift to be different

go knock yourself out and try it in a really big empty parking lot... first few times try to do it on a damp surface to save your car from dying... just learn your car's ability

oh and based on ur physical dexterity and pedal placement, its okay to use toe for brake and heel for gas or vice versa

but the main point of it is to keep the same pressure on the break like you normall would, but also do two extra things, clutch to shift gears, and add gas to keep the rpm high so ur car can accelerate out of the turn later with more torque cuz it'll be in a lower gear

The purpose of heel and toeing is not to KEEP the revs up! It's very simple, when braking into a turn, you need to down shift a few gears so that you'll be ready to apply the gas in the power band a little before the apex and power thru the turn. To make the down shift a little smoother (because you'll be at the edge of the friction circle in the braking plane and don't want to ask any more of the tires) you need to "match revs". Thats what heel and toeing is all about, matching revs so as not to upset the car. While braking before the turn, you depress the clutch to effect the downshift, smoothly move the gear shifter to the needed gear to exit the turn (you dont need to downshift thru each gear, just into the one you need), and just as you release the clutch, you give a short little blip on the gas with the braking foot just enough to bring the revs up to where they need to be to match the roadspeed in the newly selected gear. It is actually not done with the heel and the toe (usually), rather the two sides of the right shoe. In the 240, the brake pedal and the gas pedal are too far apart to do this. I had to add a small aluminum plate (rubberized black so it wouldn't be seen) to the brake pedal so that I could work both the brake and the gas with the two sides of my right shoe. Also, the pedal height has to be adjusted so that at full braking force, the brake pedal and the gas pedal are at the same height, with the brakes well bled. This is something that can be practiced on the street, but really only needed on the track. It is not to aid in drifting, there are different and very specific techniques for that.

i'd probably need wider shoes to do that, i just stick w/ the way the site i posted has it. u could've saved some time typing if u checked it out , cuz u went into a pretty detailed description. but if u used both sides of ur right foot, wouldn't it be harder to control the 2? seems like when u give it a little gas that ur other half of ur foot would come off more than it would if u were doing heal toe.

heel/toe or side/side is fully preference...they'll both get the job done effectively. I prefer side/side because I'm slew-footed (my feet look like Shaggy's on Scooby Doo \ /  ) and I can't turn my foot in like that to heel/toe.

no thats what you want to aviod. i hate it when people correct you when they dont know what the #### theyre talking about. all the horespower is in the high rpm range and you want horespower when you accelerate out of a turn.

Actually his post was 100% right...it's a way to rev-match for smooth downshift so as to not upset the car's balance and still maintain constant braking. You're sorta right b/c downshifting will in effect cause the engine to rev higher which will give better power output. However, you can downshift w/o heel/toe.

The purpose of downshifting is to keep the revs up.
The purpose of heel/toe is to make the downshift smooth while maintaining steady braking.

It's all good people skip me too. I try and ask legit questions and get no responces. But let some dork bring up "exactly what he needs to do a sr swap" for the 1,000th time and it gets viewed 200 times and gets 35 responces.

You gotta catch people on a good day...
Ask a question on the right day, and you'll need an hour to read all the responses. Ask on the wrong day, and you may not get any responses (Been there too )
It also depends on how you word the queston.
